I think we need to know why you are asking. I think the cabinets are fine but is the space dark for you, do you not like wood everywhere. We need more info or you will get yesses and nos forever.

Those are high quality cabinets, I agree with the other folks here that it's a "no" unless you feel the space is too dark.

Would first paint the walls and change the hardware.
Change of countertops would give it all a different look but start with the above.

I wouldn't paint them, but I love the natural wood look, which always seems to me to give a room more warmth.

I would agree with so many of the other comments. It would be sad to paint such beautiful cabinets. I like the suggestions of changing counters and backsplash to give a more updated look. Good luck!

Your cabinets are far to nice to paint, please don't. Go with everyone's suggestions of the other updates you could do without ruining those cabinets.

Are you asking because you don't like the color, or do you think they need painted because that is the "trend"? Your cabinets are beautiful and paint would completely ruin them.

I say no. I just recently remodeled my kitchen. Which had beautiful cherry cabinets. We were going to tear those out & replace them with white cabinets. After being shocked with the price tag of new cabinets we then thought of painting them white. Once we had all the info on painting them & the estimated cost of that, we decided to keep the beautiful cherry & lighten up the space with white subway tile backsplash & white granite countertops! The result was incredible! Soooo glad we didn't make the mistake of changing the color of the cabinets.

We need more info here to give you the best advice. While the cabinets seem fine there may be other reasons you want to change them and you haven’t convinced us yet. I have no problem with painting wood cabinets if the end results are beautiful and professionally done but you haven’t said how you will do that. That being said these do have a nice profile and can look nice either way .

I say yes to paint if you have to keep counter and splash. but it would be nice to see the whole space.

I personally don't like painted cabinets, I think wood is much more timeless. I don't like your back splash much with your counter tops, maybe try updating that instead? Just an idea, hope you come back to ready everyone's suggestions :)

Thinking of doing stone on the bar wall and need a new wall color as well. Want neutral but the kitchen seems so small and thinking of I paint them an ivory color it will brighten the room up

Changing the counter top is not an option.

I like the idea of the stone bar wall, but I don't think that anything else needs to be changed. The warm wood tone coupled with the grey walls makes this kitchen look so inviting!

You do realize that painting the cabs will cost as much or more as a new counter? I wouldn't paint those nice cabinets. Also if you're trying to move away from dark I wouldn't recommend that dark heavy dining set.

Kelley....I agree about the new lights - change the pendants also. Please do not buy that dark table if you are saying you want to lighten things up.

is changing a few of the cabinet doors to ones with frosted glass and cabinet lighting a possibility?? It looks like a row house style kitchen and you need to see how to lighten up the dark, heavy middle section. Painting the walls, changing the light fixtures and door hardware are do-able options. Clearing the walls and counters can show more wall

so lighter paint colour can be seen. Under cabinet lighting can help to. I guess anything to open up and lighten space, both in brightness but physical sense, can help. Is there a second floor above this area? A skylight does wonders and really goes bring in lots of light.

There is a bedroom above the kitchen so a skylight isn't an option. We do have a big three window in the breakfast nook area

I wouldn’t paint if the cabinet finish is still good. I would get rid of the papers and notes holders, curate the counter a bit, and change out the lighting. Use the top of the narrow bar for fruit display and bring in a color that makes you smile.
