Here are a few thoughts for you. :)

Sempervivums of any variety (there are tons) are hardy to zone 5 or lower so would be more than fine in your temps. They don’t love blasting hot summer sun either so the lower sun exposure here might suit them.

Check out this thread in the C&S forum: all year outside growers. You’ll note that most of the responses are in zone 9b and above. We were discussing potted succulents though, and you can get away with a little more if they’re planted in the ground. Especially if you’re willing to throw a frost blanket over them on chilly nights. Your spot is already a little protected by the fence and the house so will be a little warmer than an open area. If you’re willing to risk losing some plants you can experiment a little to see what works.

Consider prowling your neighborhood a little to see if anybody else has succulents planted outside, and what types they are - it’s a great way to see what works in your area. Keep in mind not all of them will do well without full sun. You might also cross-post your question to the C &S forum as there are a lot of super knowledgeable succulent growers there.

There are some colorful sedum groundcovers that would look nice in that area and are hardy in your zone: Sedums - Ultimate perennial ground cover.

Just out of curiosity, how did you connect to the Sunset zone? I get confused in their book, though the larger area is Zone 8, where I am locally looks more like Zone 14 on their maps.
