Yes, the frame is mahogany and the center panel is horizontal 1" x 6" cedar, spaced 1/4" apart. The whole gate is stained with BEHR semi transparent stain in 'Cordovan Brown'.

I absolutely love the gate! Could you tell me how it is constructed. How the cedar slats are fastened and what the back looks like.

Hi Debora - Your stain inspired me so after installing a new wood fence, we had it stained yesterday the Cordovan Brown. However, the painter messed up big time and used WAY too much stain. Was supposed to be semi-trans and he gooped on 9 gallons making it thick and sticky. Looks like dark brown splotchy paint. :-( Other than redoing the entire fence,any ideas? I live in Encinitas and was thinking of having you give us a consult for that and the yard. So sad... Sheila

love your gate! What are the dimensions of the wood slates vs the framing? How are the slates hidden on both sides?
