Companion climber for Passionflower in container

Hi

I'm after suggestions for a climber that would live happily in a container on our balcony alongside passionflower (caerulea). We already have a couple of these in pots but are transferring them to bigger troughs and there's space to put another plant in along with the passionflower.

We live in central Italy so have a Mediterranean climate, very hot in summer and fairly cold in winter. The passionflower is wonderful in summer and autumn but looks a little straggly in winter so I'd like something evergreen that flowers in winter/spring.

It's to go by the front door so something fragranced would be ideal and I wondered about Jasmine Polyanthum or honeysuckle... We have a bougainvillea which is flowering on despite the cold but the pot is wrapped in fleece and I don't know if that would harm the passionflower. I'm a fairly novice gardener and worried about putting plants with incompatible needs together! Does anyone have any suggestions?
