Given the living space style..........? Are you sure you want to invest time, energy and money ......in cabinetry faces that don't ultimately suit your style? Slab doors and then a decision as to color.m may be a far more unified space and look suited to you. Along with a hood and new locale for the microwave. Just asking : )

I don't think of white cabinets as a trend, they are always in! Painting them white seems like the quickest least expensive way to perk up your current kitchen and have it flow with you living room.

You also could do dark lowers and white uppers, or remove some of the uppers for open shelving, if you are looking for other options.

Style matters in cabinetry . A GOOD paint effect is labor or price dependent , usually both. Sometimes, it is best to wait for a more complementary whole..... and spend money once. Whether light or dark

More like 7-10K for professionally recoating cabinets with a proper conversion varnish. Cabinets do not need some 4K hack slapping house paint on them. That’s the job that didn’t do prep correctly, or use the right finish. It chips and makes you do a total replacement sooner rather than later.

I agree if this is a perfect layout that you love then spend the money on a perfect paint job done by a cabinet refinisher not a house painter , if this is not your dream kitchen then save the money until you can do it right. Paint the walls alighter color and call it a day for now.Get the clutter off the counter and those stools in the middle of the kitchen would make me crazy.
