I think it's a cute pattern but a little busy for the small space.

I really like it. I'm not sure you need to finish it to the wall, but I do think it needs to be finished to the counter. I love the little bar area - that plane is wonderful.

Finish it! It will look great! Tip: pop off the crown molding before you stencil the top row, it will make it a ton easier to get a nice edge up top. It's hard to paint when the stencil is bent, and any flubs, smears, blurs will be hidden under the crown. It will look like the design is running up under the crown too, so it will look more like wallpaper.

I stencilled an entire wall in my kitchen and it is by far the most-complimented feature in my home. Men in particular notice and comment on it, even running their hands over it to confirm that it is indeed paint. Best design decision I made!

I agree with the other comments. It's a really pretty and unusual design and like someone said already, "It deserves to be finished." Once you do finish it, you will have a feeling of satisfaction and pride. Please do not even consider "clouds." A cliche that only belongs in a child's bedroom or playroom.

I would love to; I've tried to photograph it many times. It's tone on tone yellow, and my phone takes the worst pictures in history so I haven't been able to get one that shows it well.

Maybe these give a slight idea? Currently sporting some awesome Christmas art! The header over the doorway gives probably the best indication of the overall effect when you're in the room. The rest of the walls of the kitchen sitting area are painted the lighter yellow, while the kitchen proper is the darker yellow used as the base (divided from sitting area by fridge so no transition is visible). The stencilled wall extends the length of the room and divides the kitchen from dining room. The pantry is off the dining room (visible from kitchen) and I used the same stencil on the bare plywood walls of the pantry, in the white that I used on the DR walls.

Sorry if I highjacked the thread, to bring it back on track if anyone is thinking about stencilling a wall: DO IT!!

I love your creativity - I'd not stencil the left wall evenly, but stagger it/ less at the left / more at the adjacent wall....
