Ours is quite organized... but not beautiful like a showroom. But, in our 3 car garage with very high ceilings we can fit 3 cars (one minivan, one sedan, one Mini Cooper) one motorcycle, an extra fridge, hubby's woodworking shop... though we have to back vehicles out and rearrange when he does a project... a lot of tools and other misc stuff. And hanging from the ceiling on pulley systems we have a bunch of bicycles, wheel barrow, and some other misc stuff. We also have a wall mounted rack system for extra wood for his projects.

Organized but not pretty. Converted a car bay into closets. One for pool supplies, one for garden/auto supplies, One for crafts/paint. It is time to do a little editing.

Mine is very well organized because it acts as an extension of my house. The kitchen has very little storage including no pantry. Since I only have to park one car in a two-car garage, I lined the rear and one side wall nearest the door to the kitchen with shelves (for paper towels, extra canned goods, etc.) and closed cabinets for large bags of dog food, serving dishes, extra glasses, and cooking items I don't use often (like turkey pan). I bought all the storage items at a big box store -- the four shelves are identical and ditto the four closed cabinets so it looks neat. Everything is black composite. I'm loving having everything I need close by as opposed to in the basement. Also on the rear wall is a small (36" wide) hall tree with the coat, shoes, leash, etc. that I need to walk the dog. It's convenient to not have to go to front hall closet every time I take him out.

Portable whole house generator, pressure washer, two chest freezers, four metal trash cans each holding 100 lbs bird seed, stack of extra floor tile, pegboard of brooms etc., cushions for patio furniture, various backpack sprayers, extra dining chairs, plastic tubs of dropcloths and rags, shelving with stuff DH won't throw out, large filing cabinet (empty), several bird nests, one compact car. I'm going to Spring clean with a vengeance.

Ugh...so need to work on this, but at least we have room for our cars. There's really no excuse...the home we bought has a garage full of cabinets/storage.

I know very few people who actually use their garage for cars.

Last year I repainted and cleaned out our two car garage. My son is a mechanic so he has a lot of stuff which we managed to fit into shelves along one side wall. We also built a large workbench along the front of one bay. I tiled behind the workbench to protect the wall and never even got to grout it as my son had all his tools, bench grinder and vice set up before I got to it. My side of the garage has all of the 'stuff' whilst my husband's side is kept clear - apparently because I have a small car. I really think it's because I'm a better driver and can park without hitting anything.

Mine looks like a bomb went off. Not enough storage and its not heated in any way so I'm not going back out there until spring. :)

100% . . . Oh, wait a minute, I thought the thread title was how DISorganized your garage is. Never mind.

Now, that's a thread I could relate to.

Mine is a two-car garage which can house only one car. The rest is...well...a disaster. I used to complain to my husband about all of the STUFF in the garage. However, in the nearly three years since he lost his battle with cancer, I have made little headway in clearing it out. I have tried, but it's not as easy as it looks! There are a lot of tools and lawn care equipment (much of which I use), but also some I could get rid of. Then there would be my addiction to glassware and serving pieces stored in there..... When (if) it warms up, garage clean-up is definitely going to be a priority!

I purged the garage 3 times last year. Yup, you read it correctly. 3 times. So yes my garage is tidy. Not pretty but floor is clear, no more holes in the now painted walls and I know where everything is. I doubt 2 cars can fit, it's a small 2 car garage with an 8' extension for the laundry area.

Lost most of the stuff in the rafters first time around and a lot of actual junk like empty containers that needed to go to hazardous waste disposal. Second time got rid of a shelving unit to make room for my trike to hang on the wall. Floor was clear, a car could fit but more to do as things that couldn't be shelved were slotted between shelving units which reduced parking width by a couple feet.

Third time I really got into it. Repaired and painted the walls. One wall has stuff hanging against it to save floor space. Facing wall looks like I bought things to fit the space with nice shelving lining wall and trike and mower hung under the window. I put shelves up near the rafters to accommodate the stuff that had been on the last of the rickety shelving. There's a real work bench with an easily washed surface opposite the washer and the last file cabinet was emptied of papers and is now pantry storage.

I could have easily put everything back into the garage at that point but chose to get rid of those what if, old hobby and haven't been used for umpteen year things.

With trash and recycling bins, a wood shop, a myriad of other supplies and tools, golf clubs, bicycles and lawn equipment, as well as three or four projects in work, organized is not a word DW would use to describe it. I, on the other hand, can usually lay my hands on what I'm looking for.

I use a lot of bins and baskets in mine. That's where we store old clothes, toys and stuff like that. However, my husband also put up a rack for all of his tools, wires, cables and stuff like that because he likes making and fixing stuff. At first it all look pretty messy, but then he found a nice gadget for labeling everything and now he won't part with it. :D it's the Dymo Rhino 4200 label printer, maybe you have heard about it. Useful tool, I must say.

Also, we like using recycled pill bottles. My husband uses them for screws and those little parts, while the shelving is used for storing the bins and boxes. :)
