You can find 100s , do you mean an actual double bed or queen. Double bed things are getting very hard to find but it is an easy job to DIY a headboard check out some you tube to see how. Sorry but if you hate headboards why not just put your pillow behind your head when reading. I always think a bed with no headboard looks unfinished.

I will be watching this thread as I am facing a simlar decision. I was thinking I may do a bed-width full wall solution .image

edited to add......Sorry.....think I may have misunderstood...not sure but I think OP wants a bed w/o any kind of headboard and I do want something there but not a regular headboard.

Buy ( or have one made) an upholstered headboard. Tons online ( even Target) , furniture stores ( e. g., Bassett, places like that ). sell them also, made in fabric of your choice.

You could do upholstered fabric or faux leather wall panels that run the length of the wall. See examples:

We had a challenge with our rooms. Since they're very small, I didn't want to take up valuable space with a traditional headboard. I used some leftover 1/4" plywood, sanded, stained, and poly, and mounted it directly to the wall with velcro picture hangers.

This has worked great for us as a simple, very cheap solution.
