Need help decorating

Need help decorating our new house, I'm interested into the farmhouse style. Only a one bedroom, so currently our son is in the living room. We will be getting a kitchen table & Entertainment center. We also thought about painting the walls too. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on your new home! Priming and then painting the walls is a great idea. Try a creamy white to brighten the rooms. Adding an area rug to the living area, more throw pillows on the couches, and curtains/drapes on all the windows will help with the cozy farmhouse look you like. A few end tables with lamps also add warmth to a room and you won't need to use the overhead lighting as much. When you get a kitchen table, think about replacing the overhead light with a kitchen chandelier.

Creamy white walls are also my first suggestion. Rather than an entertainment center, which is pretty well out of style even though stores still sell them, get a console that it at least a foot longer at each end. They have them on-line in all kinds of styles. Try overstock.com.

Mean't a Electric fireplace. We will be hanging our tv on the wall, recently moved in. it's a slow process getting the things we want. But Im worried it will look over crowded with my son's crib on that side of the living room. But im very limited to where i can move him. Love the idea of the paint on the walls. Can yall share pictures of which colors i could decor with?

can you do a small kitchen table/island where the crib currently is, and make the eating area a space for the crib?

Any chance you can turn that large kitchen space where a table would go into a sleeping area for your son? Is there room for that as well as a small table or a small island with seating? That would free up some room in the living area.

...or maybe turn the kitchen area into your TV viewing/eating area and use the living area for your son's (or your?) bedroom? You could separate the two spaces with a room divider or decorative screen.

Where will your TV go? This is just one person's opinion, so take it or leave it. But here is my thought. You have a very small house, which is great! But most folks don't want to live without a TV these days. Put the TV on a low console (or hang it above a low console), just as suggested by Ingrid. Above a fireplace is a last-resort location for a TV, and definitely not ideal at all. The best viewing angle for TV is at sofa-seated height.

Once you put the TV where it should go, and a comfy sofa facing it, then I bet you'd rather have some storage, if there is any room left at all. Or a wall to put the crib on. Am I missing something, or isn't an electric fireplace just a decorative item? I don't think you will have room for that.

Suzanne, here's a whole page of tv stand electric fireplaces, my granddaughter put one in and it looks fab. This is her second year using it, helped alot with the terrible freeze we've had. I like the lighter toned ones, the gray is nice, all on sale. Here's the link. tv unit with fireplace.

Move your son's sleep space as far from the electronics as you can, especially if you have WIFI.

I could move my son into the dining room on this wall. And possibly put our table towards the kitchen more.

It looks like you might be able to put a table against the half wall across from the kitchen cabinets. That would free up space in the dining room for your son's sleeping area. A cute area rug and curtains would make it special for him! And the TV/living area will be a separate space.

I was even older than he is and still sleeping in a crib. Then my parents bought a sleeper sofa which was my bed until they got a house with a second bedroom. If the crib converts to a junior bed I would do that now and put it in that corner with the headboard on the left wall. He may feel more secure with some window treatments to enclose the space.

Long wall, long sofa. Short wall, short sofa

Use lamps and not the overhead fan light
