Design help for area outside bathroom

We have this eye sore of a vanity/sink that it not used except to store clutter. It has been an area of interest since we moved in but had other things come before it. We may be redoing the carpeting in at area and our entire bedroom and I would like to pull out the vanity in the process but am not sure what to do instead. I would like extra clothing storage and maybe a sink. The door on the right of the photo is our walk in closet and the door on the left is our bathroom with a shower, toilet and single sink. Thanks for any advice. I need to make a decision very soon.

Do you use the sink? Is that a window on the right? I would put in floor to ceiling closed storage.

We don’t use the sink now because it is low and gross. There is a window there also on the far right covered by blinds. Do u know what that area outside the bathroom is called so I can search for photos? Is there a name for it? Thanks!

If you need closet space make it a walk in closet I certainly would not put a sink there it would make no sense unless you redo the whole bathroom and enlarge it to use this space too.

We have a walk in closet already, would like to add some storage. We don’t have the money to totally redo bathroom, but I know we can make it more functional. This is what I have always had in mind - see photo from Houzz. I am thinking to maybe do a laminate flooring in that area and the closet. There is a major drop down from the bathroom into that area and I don’t really want carpeting if we put a sink. Thanks for your help!

What is your budget? If this was my space I would enlarge the bathroom if possible. If not remove the sink add a built storage with maybe a built in bench under the window with additional storage. The built in storage could hold hampers on the bottom shelfs above for extra toiletries and towels. To search for like spaces try using the term dressing area

thanks! I don't really have a budget :) we had flooding and may need to rip everything out. What we need most is more clothes storage.

If you need more clothing storage then consider removing the sink add storage floor to ceiling on the left drop down under the window. A built in bench under the window with a pull out drawer maybe for shoes.

It looks like a sit-down make-up area to me, which I would love! Have you considered keeping it with new vanity/fixtures, a cute chair and window treatment there, an awesome small makeup mirror (such as available at Frontgate), and pampering yourself with a great space to get ready for the day?

That to me is a very outdated space that needs to be fixed. You need to take down those walls and make the bathroom one larger space.

I would pull out all the cabinetry and just put furniture there -- you could have a large dresser, and probably room for a make-up table if you'd use one, or just put several dressers, which might be less than building a wall of furniture. Add a nice ottoman for putting on your socks or just keeping Spouse company...

I don't really think there's a name for the room as it stands currently, but most of the storage combinations being suggested come closest to being a dressing room. Yours is outside the closet, though, while many of the photos involve a large space more or less inside the closet.

I think some combination of storage furniture + a bench or ottoman is the budget way to go and to make this space most useful. Trying to keep a sink there too will limit the other uses without adding real value. Save up for a later bathroom expansion (at least to get a double vanity + linen storage in the bath, even if leaving the other zones as they are) down the road.
