I would love to see you get some color into your room via a fabulous painting. You've got the celery green chair so add some of the same color in pillows on your sofa. I would definitely go with a landsape orientation (wider than tall).

I think several pictures would look really nice. you like Impressionsists :), maybe a few more or a mix of impressionism and something else you like.

I suggest a larger picture with a portrait orientation, a coordinating rug to anchor the space, and new lamp shades. I used an impressionist painting, but your furnishings would coordinate with many styles of artwork. Scroll over the image to see an enlarged view.

Try a different style of end table on one side of your sofa. A small chest with drawers or something solid with some mass.

Your home looks very nice with good choices in furniture but it needs some zing. That's the reason that a mirror wouldn't be the best choice.

The size guide for the art over the sofa is length of sofa x 2/3 = picture size. So, if your sofa is 90" long then 90 x 2/3 = 60". That will be a better balance with your sofa.

Selecting artwork can be difficult...especially trying to compliment colors...here are three very different ideas....all brighten your room. :)

The walls are not grey although they look like they are, they are a creamy color and the chesterfield it's color is called rawhide it looks a light beige when the sun shines on it and in the evening it looks like an olive green, the cushions on the chesterfield (the one in black ) I have a chair in that color and a rug in black with creams, raspberry color in it and a green and a blue (not much) a tan color also in rug. I am having cream colored linen side curtains made as I do not want the curtains to close the window off. That room faces a green belt and we see lots of trees, very private. I thought the lamps went well with a black leather chair I have as the lamps on the base is black leather. This is a great room, we moved to an apt. and gave up our home with a lot of formal furniture in there. I wanted to go with a relaxed feeling and look, the room is all open to kitchen and dining room. The Island Stools are black with the seats covered in the black, beige,grey and gold in a sea shell pattern. Thank you for your help.

The floors are a walnut color in a laminate, I have a pull down blind with a chain, which when rolled up fits in a casing the blind is a linen color.

I was going to paint the wall with the large sliding patio door and a large side window a carmel tan color, what do you think. This is a difficult room as the ceilings are so high, 9 1/2 ft. high. That would be my accent wall and color as it is not much wall do to the big patio door.

Ceiling height has little to do with paint color. My personal preference is no accent wall. Do accents with art, pillows, throws and accessories.

Sounds like your view is fantastic. I think you've gone too dark and could perk up the decor just a bit without going crazy.

Do consider not matching your end tables and your coffee table...too predictable and not very interesting. Also, bring in another lamp to break up the matchy-matchy look of two lamps & two end tables just alike.

Look for a larger more colorful picture over the sofa.

In the corner near the window add a larger plant like a palm. to keep the other company.

we were just having fun joking about the art, I hope you know that :) well, it was partly suggestion and partly because we all have our own preferences :) i'm sure you will find something that pleases you. Besides, you can change it now and then anyway, it doesn't have to be permanent.

I honestly like the art you have in the first picture.
