Kitchen Change

I live in a 1920s sort of four square (all sides are equal but there are not 4 rooms up and 4 rooms down so that's why the "sort of"). About 20 years ago I acquired a 100 year old piece of marble from a state hospital that was closing it's kitchen. I put it on an old cabinet from the 40s as an island and about 4 years after that, I had the island built to fit the marble. At that time for contrast I stained it brown -- but did paint the inside of the shelves to match the cabinets.

For the past 2 or 3 years, I had been having thoughts about painting it to match the cabinets. Today, I did!

Now I'm mad at myself for not doing it earlier! It makes the kitchen seem lighter and brighter. I am very pleased!
