Look for an elongated glass subway tile in a color to blend with the walls, not the usual 3 x 6" subway, but perhaps a 4 x 12" format. If you want a more contemporary look, have it installed stacked in columns instead of offset like brick.

We have similar quartz counters with long glass tiles & love it. They're slightly reflective so the kitchen feels airy & bright. Also very easy to clean.

I would definitely keep the backsplash light and bright like your countertops. I am obsessed with cement tiles they are fun and come in very cool designs. I think it could really pop in your kitchen and add a lot of interest. I would carry the tile up all the way to the ceiling around your range hood. Here are some ideas.

I would keep it simple and the longer format subway style in glass would be awesome with those cabinets or just the same as the counter would also work well. The other option for sure is back painted glass if you want a bit of color.

I like the idea of large glass tile in light gray. I brought a white glass tile to see in my kitchen but it doesn’t really do much.

Does everyone agree that a light color would look best for the back splash?

My husband likes these gray glass square tiles but I’m not sure about them.

I also saw these handles and thought they were cool! Do you like this idea or do you think something in gold would be nicer? I also saw this pendant light for over the island.

The cabinet material is acrylic but it has a wood look.

I'd go with a light taupe color for the glass tile.

I agree with those who suggested carrying through the countertop material. It would look great with those sleek, modern doors.

Norma,,,I suggested the Komorebi tiles. I love those. are the ones you have the Mineral Ice? once you get them up w/lighting, it will look nice. the glass squares your husband picked are the same tone as these.

you see how these look in the first picture I posted, and those cabs are darker than yours. does it appear to dark on their wall??

those white subway tiles you posted are far too small. you need at least a 4x12 if going w/subway. (those white ones would be my least favorite choice)

You have light counter, light cabinets and appears to be quite a bit of light coming in the windows. it's ok to go with a bit of contrast on the splash. putting up white glass subway tiles would look blah, IMO.

I do like your other decor item choices.

Minimalist that I am, I like the look of the cabinets in Irene Morrisey’s pics. Minimal ( or no ) cabinet door pulls. Finger pulls have a sleek, modern look. I think the black ones you posted break up that look.

I too like a minimalist look with finger pulls. Beware of pulls that might catch your sleeve. I see no need to introduce gold metal into the room. Regarding the light fixture, it seems to me that something simpler could work better. I'm also not sure that a fixture with just one bulb will give you enough light, even with two fixtures. It depends on how much more light you have in the area.

I like the minimalist finger pulls as well. I also LOVE the gunmetal idea! I might need to get finger pulls for the top cabinets and bigger handles for the bottom.

Beth, theres just something about those tiles that I'm not liking. I can't figure it out. I need to bring some more samples home and that might help me have a more clear answer.

We have a pale blue-gray long format glass tile backsplash. Figured I'd post so you can see what they look like next to the similar quartz. I think the smaller glass tiles look more busy & call more attention to themselves in a kitchen. Larger glass tiles tend to blend in more seamlessly.

Gold cabinet pulls seem a bit trendy right now where as the black pulls look both modern & classic.
