Room Rearrange?!

My daughter's room is a mess! I have rearranged her room multiple times to create a less messy area, but it all just keeps piling up! I don't know what to do!
Rearrange room again
Paint new color walls
Buy lots of bins and storage units

How old is she? I know kids go through this messy stage, at least my two daughters did, and if you have trained them right, they will eventually get organized and stay that way. The key is having a place for everything. I bet she is overwhelmed now just looking at the room it looks like a ton of work. Start by sorting through her room, with her, to decide what needs to be saved, sold or given away or discarded. Then decide on appropriate storage solutions, with her if she is old enough, so the room doesn't descend into chaos again :) This can be a bonding experience between the two of you.

My daughter is 11 years old, on her first year of Middle school. She hates it when I'm in her room, so I stay out when I can. She loves crafting, but it gets out of hand too much. I'm taking some steps with her next weekend, but mostly we are busy since she plays basketball, lacrosse, and is on a robotics team. She wants to redo her room, but that costs a lot of money, so I'm not so sure. Thanks for the ideas!

So far I have storage units in her closet and we have gone through EVRYTHING sitting out. Her room looks better, but I am still working on it. Please post more ideas if possible!

I like that idea. In fact, she already has bedding that she likes picked out, I just haven't thought of that idea. Thanks so much!

    You're welcome!

LOL, you might show her this posting. She'd be embarrassed to see this from others' viewpoints, and maybe she'd try to keep it cleaner. (Tongue in cheek.)

Yah, she doesn't know I've been doing this, but she would kill me if she knew, so maybe I should keep her in the dark. :)

Since she likes to craft, Im guessing she is creative. I was a creative child & was always into some project. I found labels on assigned places help. I also do well with clear containers to see what is in a box instead of having to pull it all out. An art cart that wheels all my art supplies helps keep it in 1 place. Roll it in a closet or under a table or make it a table with a cloth to conceal. An open table/desk for projects. Explain to her, have your desk clear so you can have space to make crafts. Add a good craft light in that area.

Maybe go through some online photos with her of other girls room to inspire her as a giant art project desiging or decorating her room. Maybe she will start to see it as fun & be inspired. Keep it fun & positive.

    Hope that helps.

My iPad only shows one photo. The room doesn’t look a bad size. It just looks like there is too much ‘stuff’. Is there room to store things in low plastic tubs under the bed? Or do a cull and send unused items to charity?

any wall available to put shelves on? Just getting stuff up and off the floor will make it look better

Don’t touch it, this is her space if she wants it to look like a pig pen let her. When our kids were growing up we had a rule if the door is shut it is your room if left open it is mine. If is mine we clean together before you do anything else, if it is yours I don’t enter it to get anything including your laundry , which BTW you can do after you are 10 yrs. We had 3 boys all of whom have grown up to be good housekeepers .Organization only works if she wants to be organized.

Yes, but I have checked for bins that would fit at Target, but they were out and said they have another shipment coming next month since their trucks have been delayed thanks to Inga.

We have one shelf, but really there isn't any other room. I love the ideas, and will try today to put some into action.

Patricia- I wish I could be like that, but since our house is new, we give people tours and they see all of our children's rooms.

I have two boys , 9 and 13, who share a room, and their room is always messy. But I have told them that if something is on the floor, it means it is trash, and I can do anything I want with it, including throw it away. I follow up with the rule, so usually the floor at least is neat.

Whatever you do, utilize plastic under bed storage boxes.

I like that. Also, thanks for making it a sketch. It's easier to understand.
