Mango Panicle Question.

Hi,

I have two mango trees, a carrie and nam doc mai and I live in southern CA. I was wonder once panicle drops from point of origin, will a branch appear afterwards? I ask this because I pruned my mangos I think at wrong time year and instead of new lateral branches, it sent flower panicles out instead.
