Help with light fixture placement!

The light fixture in my breakfast room is centered with the window but not with the table. I played around and removed the buffet to center the table under the chandelier but the area seemed a bit blank without the buffet. That is always an option though (but losing precious storage!) I know I can always try and swag the chandelier to the right but was afraid that too would look off if it's not lined up with the window. What are people's thoughts on doing 2 smaller light fixtures over the table- one in the current position and one to the right?

(Also I know an area rug is needed but will most likely wait until I don't have toddlers... or get an outdoor rug)

Perhaps the area looked out of scale without the buffet because the art work on that wall was too small. I would remove the buffet and place a large piece of art on that wall. If there is enough depth to do so Id try relocating the buffet to in front of the windows (I know eek but the goal is to keep your storage) and put a bench on that side of the table and simplify the top of the buffet by putting two lamps on it.

I should add some other photos to give a little perspective... I cannot turn the table or have enough room for the buffet on the window wall due to the door to the garage. However, maybe larger art would help fill up that wall if I do remove the buffet.

I think you're left with either having the light not be centered on the window which IMO would look "off" or moving the buffet. Do you have a sofa that maybe floats with its back to the kitchen? You can salvage losing the storage of the buffet by anchoring it as a sofa table on the back of a sofa. Or any wall in the home where you can use it? entrance? Replacing a four legged table with this piece will at least keep your storage. I would use some large scale art work in place of the buffet or a series of framed pieces that relate to each other. something that will cover than expanse of wall.

If you turn the table, it won't be any closer to the sideboard than it is currently.

More complicated, but switch your table for a round pedestal style. With this one, either direction you are too close to the doors and walkways.

Turning the table makes the most sense--it opens up the space, centres the light, and simply looks a whole lot better.

HI! You've got quite a challenge here! The previous comments have really given you all the different options so far. Here is something else you can consider: I am not sure how much your curtains are overlapping your window. Usually, curtains overlap about 30cm (12" or so). If you extend your curtain pole to the right and pull that curtain as far right as possible over the wall, you may be able to create the illusion of a wider window, which will help to centre your table. Then you can swag the chandelier to the right to be over the middle of the table. Hope that helps!

My suggestion would be to choose a light fixture or fixtures that share a longer ceiling canopy that can embrace the J box wherever it may be.

    Attaching a few examples...

i think if she turns the table it's going to be in the way of the garage door.

can you turn the table and take a pic of it ?

other option is to swag the light over the table.

but really, that buffet needs to go elsewhere for the best look for table/light/window. (unless you can turn the table the other way)

It looks like the best solution here is going to be to swag the light over the table.

I think your best option is to remove the cabinet, place some more substantial decor on the wall, and figure something else out when it comes to storage, whether that is scaling down your collection of kitchen items or getting creative in a different part of the room. Love your dining set -- the table and chairs are beautiful.
