Refinish table top

Apologies if this is the wrong forum for this. I have a 12 year old kitchen table, oak, pedestal legs that seats up to 6. We take most meals on it. It's a catch all for all sorts of stuff etc. It is solid wood. It was purchased at Just Cabinets, prefinished, years ago. It has held up well but it looks like it needs to be 'resealed?'. It has a matte finish. In some places watermarks are present. In some places the finish feels different..perhaps wore off...?. I am pretty handy. Can I just recoat the top with a matte finish..or is there more to it. If so, please recommend the best type of brush, roller..whatever is best and the type of sealant (Minwax etc) and best practice for top coating it. I don't want to skimp on tools or materials and end up with a sub par job.

Thanks!
