If she likes white, by all means. will you be painting yourselves?

if I had to choose between flooring and counter, I'd choose counter. flooring isn't that bad.

I would look into facing that island w/some white beadboard and trimming it out for more of a coastal feel.

like this one. grab a walnut butcher block for the top. you can paint the island white, blue, gray,,,

Thanks for the prompt feedback! We're getting the cabinets painted professionally. Adding on the bead board with the trim looks nice. I also like that trim you chose. The tile has a hairline crack in it so we're definitely going to change it out as well to make the house feel more connected and clean up the slab.

great! a nice white quartz and some type of blue glass splash will have you beach ready. (if doing tile splash, do not get the 4" piece of counter attached to the wall).

Simply White by BM is a nice, bright neutral white.

also, lose the valance and get a nice roman shade or a woven wood like the one in the pic, above.

That valance needs to GO!
