Can you tell me how to care for this type of countertop? I love the look but worried about stains, etc...

I understand your concern about stains on wood counter tops and that used to be a concern, but not really anymore. The counter tops are not stain proof, but in most cases not a concern. We use a finishing product called Waterlox. It s a Tung oil based product that builds a film of protection around the wood. We use 4 coats on all sides, top and bottom on counter tops. Water around sinks is not a problem. red wine, lemon juice, vinegar... all not a problem. Just wipe up if spilled and not let it sit for long periods of time. Another great advantage is if over time the counter top finish needs to be freshened up, another coat of Waterlox can be bushed on over the old coat to give it a brand new finish. To take care of the counter tops, just wash off with soap and water and wipe dry. Stay away from ammonia based products. I have wood counter tops in kitchens, bathrooms, offices, kids play areas.... They are durable, beautiful, and add a unique look to most environments that only wood can. With today's modern finishes, wood can successfully go most any where.
