I suggest you get some large pieces of oak tag, in black, and tape them up in your space, and see how it looks and feels to you, try to really cover entire wall. The black is a dramatic color choice, and it could be striking - but if it's a small room, with no window, etc. - you really have to see up close and personal how that color will work in actual real time, in your actual space. I don't know that anyone can advise you on that accurately, here - even with a visual (which I started to do a visual on your space, but abandoned it, because I realized it just would not give you an accurate picture, literally). So try the black oak tag or something to that effect.
