Kitchen Island different color

I am designing my kitchen and really would like to do a blue/teal cabinets in the island with a tan granite and for the back cabinets make them all white with a white quartz counter top. Any opinions or advice on having the two solid surfaces?

Do not do what you're thinking of doing, shut those thoughts down. None of that matches. If these are your instincts, then please do yourself a favor and work with someone with some decorating sense to help you. That is my best advice.

    Sounds like a mess, sorry.

Either use two different cabinet colors and one countertop, or two countertops and one cabinet color.

I'd be hesitant about mixing granite and quartz too. It can be done, but most of the times I've seen it it's not that great looking. A teal island sounds lovely, but a simple quartz would let the color be the star whereas a busy granite would fight with it.

I absolutely agree with the other posters--simplify your design. I, too, have considered white perimeter cabinets and an island in a deep blue or navy with contrasting counter colors, but after seeing many online photos, I think I will stick with just one counter material and color for both. I currently have all white wall cabinets with a white island. I'm hoping an island painted a different color will hide dirt and scuffs better so I am not forced to wipe it down every day.

I agree with the other posters -- your plan has too many conflicting color schemes. If you want an island that has blue/teal cabinets, pair it with the same white countertops as the rest of your white kitchen.

I agree and appreciate seeing the posted photos. I think you could mix in a wooden island top, but it would take more maintenance than sticking with all quartz.

I did cream with chocolate glaze accents on my cabinets with a black quartz (with sparkles) and teal island and cream/chocolate backsplash. I dont consider myself a designer at all but I love my kitchen. Need to find stools now...

Jennifer - I looked in your ideabooks, but there are no photos of kitchens you like. I suggest you search here in Houzz and post kitchens you like. Once you have 15 or 20 photos, you will see a trend emerge and that will help you get a much better feel for what you want. That is critical first step. Then, we can help you further. Kitchens are tricky spaces, so proceed slowly and carefully.
