Hello Mill Man. IMO,package units are most bang for the buck in small homes with roomy crawl space. They are fast to install and easy to service compared to split evap-condenser. They are same equipment as through wall,just different ducting running beneath floor.

Thanks klem, this unit also has electric heat. I have access to street gas, would it be worth looking into a package for both heat and AC?

Strip heat add's little or nothing to equipment cost. Ask the gas and electric companies for estimated energy cost for your climate. A pak with gas sell's for quite a bit more than strip heat,more expensive to repair but usually more eccononical on energy consumption. If you have few days below 25F,I would use strip heat. Without gas cooking and water heat,you wouldn't soon recover cost of lay gas line from street.
