Bathroom design question

I am in the process of starting a bathroom renovation. I have selected tiles and cabinetry. I am going to have gray blue tiles on the walls, diamond shaped crackled glass tiles in the shower/tub area, blue penny tiles on the floor and light color wood for the vanity. My counter top will be white platinum. Silestone. My question is can I have a light blue sink and white tub and toilet. Or do they all have to match.

I think that sounds beautiful, and really if you think about it, white really does match with every other color so they it will match the sinks, but it just won't be same color.

agreed- beautiful tile choices but I think less may be more. Would also def. go with white sink.
if you are installing a "traditional" sink then white might look best-however if you are going a different route using a vessel style sink i think it sounds lovely! love your color choices!

I would probably opt for the white sink. I like your tile choices, but not sure I would do the entire shower in the mosaic. I would probably combine it with your wall tile in the shower.
For your counter top, You might want to also check out "Eco" by Cosentino ( also a Silestone company). They have a white that is mixed with recycled glass that might be a really good match with your other choices. It has a similar look to the one you chose.

Never mind about the Eco stone. I just noticed the color of your door. The Eco would be too white.

I think the blue sink would be "blue overload" .. love the blue penny tile! The crackle tile ... do they have a sparkle to them? If so, be sure to incorporate some near the lighting over the sink--would look very pretty.

Aaahhhh! Love the feedback. Thank you and I would love more. I will add to my description that the wall tile will go around the entire bathroom to about 48". Then a chair rail tile. Then in the tub area that is where the diamond shaped tile will go above the chair rail to the ceiling. I do agree it will be busy with the penny tile but we absolutely need a less slippery option on the floor so I thought more grout would help that issue. The blues are the same and they do look good together. The door style of the cabinetry is also much simpler than the one in the pic. But the color is the same.

Wow your ideas are great! But I thinkg you will have to match the sink and the ttub and everything or it might spoil the look. I think you must go with the white. Good Luck!

I still think that the two different styles and color of small tiles are just too much together, especially next to each other in the bath area. And that diamond mosaic is very busy and high contrast, which will make the effect look even more cluttered. Think simple, simple, simple.

    love your choices.
agree with bythesea on the sink. white if undermount but a blue glass or clay would work in a vessel sink. although vessels are better for guest powder rooms.

using the diamond tiles sparingly while mixing with the large gray/blue tiles might give the desired custom WOW factor rather than the dreaded, it's too much, YOW !

I like that you want to go bold and daring for you bath. I, like the others posters, think you need to rein it in a bit.
To make these three tiles work tighter, your gray field tile needs to be more subtle. It is very mottled- highs and lows of light, medium and dark gray. It has too much movement to play the role of unifier to the other tiles. Switch out that tile for something more uniform but not totally flat.
Second, using the harlequin tile in the shower from the chair rail up is going to be too much. I suggest doing an inset of this tile as an accent on each of the shower walls.

Here is a beautiful example that has the same concept.

If you love what you have so far, go with it. It is fun. Do stay with a white sink instead of trying to add one more blue. That will become a "forced" look.

I love the colors you've chosen, especially the grey tile for walls and the penny rounds. I recently re-did a bathroom, and we did put penny rounds on the floor. I love them-- they are absolutely stunning, and with a matching grout that's not meant to stand out-- the floor looks like a textured floor (mosaic). It is not busy at all. But it is a focal point.

Your choice of that diamond pattern tile, above the chair rail and to the ceiling, will definitely take your eye someplace else. I don't know that it would compete with the penny rounds, so much as just simply overpower everything. Here's a suggestion-- use the penny rounds on the floor-- they're really beautiful-- and the larger gray tile and chair rail, as planned, and then use that same tile (either smaller, or same size) on the diagonal all the way up to the ceiling. I think you'll be surprised by how much that will add-- without competing, because it's the same tile-- but will look so different on the diagonal. You could possibly (instead of chair rail) use a glass liner (a couple of rows) that is the same deep blue as the penny rounds, instead of a traditional chair rail. Just a thought.

Thank you for the great suggestions! I am now convinced a white sink is the way to go. I will also re evaluate how I use the tiles. And consider the grout color on the penny tiles as well. I am hoping to post pics once it is all done. Which won't be for awhile. But for now I have new inspiration and ideas. Thank you!

Ok I did some more looking around and found I have some additional questions. I thought about the design and thought the suggestion for creating insets for the diamond shaped tiles would be great and less of a busy pattern. for now I am considering using a slightly less busy pattern for the blue/gray tiles and I am probably goi to change the grout color to a dark blue so the penny tiles and not jumping out at me on the floor. With that said I was think the wall color should be a light blue so I have selected Benjamin Moore either Sea View or Northern Air. Not sure. Lastly I thought I should make the counter top a little more subtle and went with a less busy white with specks of glass or should I go with the gray blue counter top also in the pic?

For paint color, I'd go more toward a cool gray (fairly light). I think the choices pictured are a little too blue. I completely agree with Feeny. I think your choices are beautiful but maybe a bit too much going on. I'd leave out the diamond tile altogether as many have suggested. I like dianahb's shower suggestion just a few posts up. I think I like the darker gray blue countertop choice. That one is pretty nice. Definitely a white sink.

If this bathroom doesn't get overdone, I think it will be stunning!

Seems like you're headed in a better direction :) I think using the diamond tile in an inset is the way to go and adding a pencil tile around the frame of the inset (also in the pic I posted above) will be beautiful. A more uniform gray field tile will really help the design.

You may use one grout color for the wall tile and a second grout color for the penny round. The penny round has personality, I'm afraid the dark blue grout would take away too much. A medium, medium to dark gray there and a lighter matching gray or off white grout for the other areas.

I think the blue gray countertop is nice. But with blue paint on the walls, I feel the white Silestone is better. Light contrast to all the blues and grays is needed. I don't find the Silestone to be overwhelming with its speckles.

I looked at your wall colors and they are a higher chromatic blue. Mostly blue tint, not much gray or complexity. And perhaps a bit dark. For a lighter pure type blue, look at 799 Mediterranean Breeze. If I were designing this, I would choose 1591 Sterling.

Although the tile choices are both lovely, sometimes you just have to make a decision and stick to one wow feature in a room. Either tile choice would look great but they do not work together. Personally I would go for the gorgeous round tiles. Definately keep all the sanitary wear white. The white silestone would look good. I know how hard it is when you find things you like, you just want to incorperate it all but honestly clarity makes for more stylish designs with longevity. Good luck :-)

I like tile choice. But no blue sinks. No, too 1970 s. all white is fine.
Maybe I spoke to soon. Are you talking vessel type sink ones that look like a bowl and sit on top. Or a regular under mount sink.? If vessel sure it would nice, but if other. No.
Definitely all white and it would be an under mount sink. I understand its all a bit much. I think I am trying to incorporate lots of things I love.

Wow Chroma Design- you have a great eye for color. I just looked at the fan deck and sterling is the perfect blue gray. I know lighting etc with pics and how they show on a computer is slightly different for all .....but this is dead on.
I will say that the diamond shaped tiles as so beautiful I feel determined to use them. I think I will find a more subtle version of the same thing for the other wall tiles. If I am lucky I can find. And yes the picture you attached to show the inset was fantastic. I agree it should be "framed".
As far as grout my original choice for the floor grout was a darker grey- mist. A lighter gray - silverado for the walls and standard white for the diamonds. I am trying to bring it together.
One more question the cabinetry does come in a slightly more gray wash color should I use that instead or should I stay with this light sandish color pictured here.
I would stay with the silverado grout for the entire walls and shower area. Against the diamond mosaic, it will appear lighter anyway. My only concern I have with the glass (or id it glazed?) penny tile is whether it will become too slippery when wet?
i like the mixing of the mixing of the tiles. they look gorgeous. but i also think that you need to keep the sink the same color as the rest. otherwise it may lack continuity.
I would go with the slightly more grey cabinets, and definitely keep all the fixtures white. Brushed nickel hardware?
Yes I was thinking brushed nickel or chrome hardware. I haven't selected anything yet.
