Could you post more pics from other angles showing more of the room?

Decorate "where the people are". Concentrate on adding art, a more dramatic light fixture, curtain panels and accessories where you and your guests will congregate. As mentioned above, you can go bigger with the art but don't hang it too high. You want the art to visually relate to your furniture.

What's on the other side of the room? Your ceilings are tall but the dining area looks a bit cramped.

Where can I find this type of decor? Or what is it called so I know what to search for, Thanks!

That type of thing is easily found (for reasonable prices) at Home Goods, or online at Joss & Main, Wayfair, Overstock, Ballard Designs maybe. I would call it a floor vase with faux bamboo or sticks. I've seen those curly sticks at Michaels, I think, and definitely at Home Goods.

I would add some color though. You have a nice table and chairs. Most people would say the rug under your table is too small, and maybe it's the lighting, but the colors look dark. If it were me, I'd pick out a large piece of artwork, and add some color to the room, or at least some lighter tones and some "sparkle" or shine. You might even try to do some art yourself! That would be inexpensive. There are currently many decor blogs offering tutorials on diy canvas art that look pretty simple.

For lighting, I think you could definitely use something larger and more dramatic, like a statement chandelier. Those few changes are going to spiff up your nice dining room quite a bit.

Try posting your pictures in the design dilemma forum too. There are designers there that are good at photo shopping light fixtures and art work and you can see how your room will look with a few changes. Some people are a little rude but it's a public forum so you have to take the good with the bad :)
