Check with Verizon. Check with Morphie. Check with Apple.

It could your friend has had too much Apple Kool-Aid but it may be. For many other things Apple has said that about over the years, it was often not the case but simply its way to scare people to steer them to what they make and/or sell (usually at higher prices than alternatives).

While you should certainly make sure to use quality chargers, Mophie’s have been a pretty reputable brand for some time. I wouldnt hesitate to use it unless its been well used and abused, or sketchy. Plug it in and watch it for a couple minutes, if all is good, let her buck.

I can't speak for your particular Mophie product, but Apple does sell them in their stores.

Thanks for the responses. My Morphie was still in original pack, never opened. I will check with Apple and Morphie to see what they say.

I called Apple support and the person said she had never heard of a Mophie juice pack, told me to call Verizon. I called Verizon and they said it was fine to use with my I-phone. I expected that, since they were the one who sold it to us or rather included in the promotional with the I-phone purchase. I was surprised at Apple's response.

Did you call an Apple store? Apple doesn't make them, only sells them, so I'm not surprised that the Apple help line couldn't help you.

Typical Apple. They literally sell their products on their website -Mophie- but they are clueless unless it has an apple logo on the product.

I disagree - I get good information from an Apple store IN PERSON! Better information than Best Buy, Radio Shack (when it existed), etc.

I got an Iphone 5 a year ago and bought a brand new Mophie to fit and it's worked like a dream. Highly recommend.

Mophie should be able to tell you all about compatibility of any of their models with any given phone.
