Cement tile as backsplash...

I LOVE this look & would like to do this for my project. But how does "cement" tile perform as a backsplash? Does it need to be sealed? How does it handle food splashes, etc?

What does it need to be sealed with & how often does it need it? Are there porcelain tiles that look like these?
