help! Ilve range users out there?

Hi, I’m looking to finally upgrade our vintage O’Keefe and Merritt 40” range. I have only 3 40” options-Frigidaire, aga, and Ilve. I am absolutely besotted with the Ilve, but can’t find many reviews, the reviews I have seen are all over the board. Any real live Ilve owners out there?

@CW, the range looks great! Did you install the backsplash that came with the unit? Or did you leave it off? Anyone else leave the backsplash off? If so, is everything functioning normally?

Nkfitz, when I zoomed in, I could see the blackguard installed behind the pan. Mine is in place also. It is part of the set up for a reason. I even have steel framing behind my range.

Where do you get the fancy legs? I think the Nostalgie comes w plain metal feet...I love the ones CW posted.

Jennifernelson24, Ilve and Hallman both should be able to order them...at least that was what I was told 2 years ago. OK, I checked the website and Hallman does not have them listed, but Wayfair does for about 400 PER leg...wow.

    https://www.wayfair.com/appliances/pdp/ilve-range-burnt-scroll-foot-ilve1133.html?piid=49769772

Ilve usa has them for 166/ea.

Those legs are beautiful. I paid $150 for a pair when I bought my stove. Just checked my receipt

Where did you buy legs? So weird that the hardware is gold but the legs that come standard are silver

Can you add the legs for Nostalgie 40?
Can I just replace the front legs? Is it difficult to replace the original legs?

I’m curious if anyone can speak to the colour of the Antique White Nostalgie? Is it just a slightly off white, or full fledged cream?? I’m finding the basic White to look too bright for my house, however I don’t really want cream. I’m hoping for somewhere in between, if that makes sense? Pictures would be so appreciated.

Very similar to Vanilla ice cream and Sherwin Williams "Gardenia" paint

The antique white is defintely a cream with a bit of a yellow undertone. (not super yellow, but it's there)

Looking for sugegstions from those using the ILVE griddle. Would you recommend the griddle for making flatbreads? I own a 100cm / 6 burner ILVE and I was wondering if it will be a good idea to replace by chapati pan and pancake pan with the ILVE griddle.

Aaahomers, i have the griddle but I don’t use it much. It is very heavy and I find it awkward to clean, but others love it. In hind sight, if I did not want to spend $$$$ for an Ilve griddle I would just buy a stock griddle from one of the cast iron brands like Lodge. if u make bacon and eggs every day, and pita every week, etc. it may be worth it to you.

Those of you who were like me and couldn’t get a blue gray sample, they used to not have them but I randomly emailed back in the summer and they have them now. Mine was just installed yesterday. As far as the brass color, you can see how it compares to delta champagne bronze pot filler. My knobs are also a honey bronze or champagne bronze I think.

I absolutely love my ilve oven. I have the Majestic 48” it is beautiful and cooks like a dream. I wish it had more explicit instructions because I feel like I am missing out on some of it’s features.

@Shea Hamrick What size is your range? It's stunning!

Can anyone who owns the white Ilve majestic range let me know the closest white colour match to it please? Thank you

Anyone know if a turkey will fit in a 60” Nostalgie?

Has anyone had success with customer service?? Had our range installed April 2022 we noticed a dent on the small door (48" range) I called customer service and they were super nice saying they could replace it but it would take a long time. Fine. Here it is the middle of October and I have called and left messages and emailed many times and no one ever gets back to me on status. The bigger issue I have now is that most of my burners do not light. I have to use a lighter which is a real pain with the griddle. I put in a service request and its been a about a month and I don't even have an appointment. Again its the run around, I have to call no one calls me with updates. Im beyond frustrated-a brand new $7000 range and it doesnt work. AHHHHHHH

Hi, does anyone have the induction range? I’d love to hear about your experience with it. Thanks!

Works well...speeds things up and generally even.

I swapped out my hardware! I ordered the 24" Ilve Nostalgie in white with bronze trim because the brass wasn't available during the pandemic. I purchased the brass hardware separately - the upper handrail, the oven door handle, the oven temperature knob, oven function knob, range burner knobs and the programmer buttons. So happy!

Now I have a bronze trim set that I'd like to sell, in case that was the trim you really wanted.

I'm located in the Seattle area and interested in purchasing a ILVE range. Before pulling the trigger however I'd like to make sure there's someone to service the appliance. If anyone here has input about this would love to hear about your experience. Thanks

Ilve sure does make some beautiful ranges, but they are total junk and their customer service is non-existent. I had a 36″ Nostalgie installed in mid June and the oven completely stopped heating up in early July. I contacted Ilve and at first they were helpful and walked me through some troubleshooting steps. The troubleshooting didn’t fix anything though so Ilve said they’d send a tech. One never came. I’ve emailed Ilve many times and they promised that a tech would be calling me no later than tomorrow. A tech has yet to call me. It’s been 6 months now of this and Ilve won’t even respond to my emails or calls anymore. This company is a complete scam. Please do yourself a huge favor and do not but from them if you are considering it. Yes, they look amazing, but you will hate yourself when you have to drop even more of your hard earned money on a second range a few months later so you can feed your family.

Just had my new Ilve professional plus installed in our new home. I ordered it in July 2021, was delivered this past July. It fits our modern style perfectly, everything works great. This is my second Ilve (my first is a Nostalgie installed in 2018) and I’ve never had a lick of trouble with it. I’ve had friends with fancy Vikings, Dacor, etc that are lemons. I paid less than 1/2 of what they cost. Don’t be afraid to give them a try!

I'm about to pull the trigger on a new Ilve range but after reading some of these comments very nervous to do so. Our area appliance store assures me that there are several ILVE repair offices in our area, but I'm not sure if that will even help.

@dormmom depending on which Ilve you are considering.. also look into Hallman which is made by Ilve BUT has a different seller in Texas. I LOVE the Hallman 48" range, and have had great communication with their team. The ranges are simple, mine was installed and calibrated by 2 different local companies...neither specialize in Italian ranges. Hallman tech stayed on the phone to teach how to manually calibrate the range (the temp was 50F too low in both ovens). The install company did the hooking up and verified correct gas flow to each burner etc. Mine has been in daily use for 2.5 years.

@lucky-thank you very much for the information. My designer mentioned the Hallman range as a few of her clients have that one and seem quite happy with it. I will definitely look into that one. I'm also getting the 48" one. Can I ask what color range you chose?

HI Dormmom, I recommend you call the Luwa Luxury folks. I believe they service Ilve Ranges.

@dormmom sorry, I didn't see your question until now. At the time, they had 10 stainless 48" ranges in their warehouse so I got one without having to wait.

@Miranda Yorke - hello! How hard was it to swap out your hardware? I'd like to do the same!

Any majestic ilve ranges for sale out there? hoping for a 60”.

Hi everyone. I am wondering what people's experience has been with the brass trim. I just installed a 24" Ilve Nostalgie, brass with black, and want to know if the brass is coated. I actually asked Ilve, and they said that their brass wasn't coated, but it looks so uniformly bright so I looked online and the website says that all their finishes are coated!!

@Mackenzie Sullivan My contractor did the oven handle and top rail. The knobs just pull off and push on. ILVE tried to tell me that I needed to puchase a new oven door with a factory installed handle but that’s not true. I bought the new hardware from Appliances Connection for less than ILVE quoted. Good luck!

Hi. Anyone know if Premier Home Supply is a good place to buy appliances?

I am about to make a purchase and so confused. I am looking at the 40 inch Nostalgie and It says that it is only 21 inches deep. if my countertops are standard 24 or even 26 inches does that mean the range will look shoved into the space? How do i really get it flush with the counters? I really have to cut my counterops that much?

I have the 40 inches as well and it’s actually 28 inches deep. You might be looking at the interior diameter which is a little more shallow due to the convection fan. I’ve had mine for five years and I absolutely love it.

I have the minight blue 48inch nostalgia range with bronze hardware. Can anyone tell me what potfiller goes with the bronze hardware on this range?

Frances DeCarlo, I noticed on this website you posted a picture of your midnight blue Ilve range. Can you tell me if you went with bronze hardware? If so do you have a potfiller? I am having trouble matching one with the bronze hardware it has come in but not at our house.

Has anyone had an issue with Ilve fans being loud? We will be range ahopping soon and reviews stating the fans are loud gives me pause. We have a Bertazzoni now and may upgrade to a 36” Heritage but the Ilve price point and colors are tempting.

I have the Ilve Majestic 48" .The large oven fan is quiet, but the smaller oven fan is extremely loud.

Do not buy - their service for faulty parts and mechanical issues is a nightmare- stick with any other brand.

Does ilve need to be fit with a larger gap where it meets at counter… in some photos it looks that way? I’m going from 25 yrs with drop in cooktop to range, so that ‘gunk gap” is a little bothersome ! (Still very much considering getting wall oven installed under cooktop….finding its requiring lots of extra considerations)

I realize each person tolerates heat differently, but is the oven venting an issue while oven is on and you're also using cooktop ?

No glides :( Do racks slide out smoothly?

Anyone have the induction version…hob layout feedback?

    I am considering the 36”

    thanks !

H JM join the Facebook group and ask there.

There is no required space between the oven and countertops, just how good your template is. I have no problem with the oven venting while using the cooktop. I think the racks slide just fine.
Regarding the issue of quality, maybe I have been fortunate, but my first oven is going on 6 years with no problems and my second one in a new house is perfect. If you are really concerned about service/parts you might consider a Hallmen. It is basically the same oven, but they are manufactured in Texas.

@ppomerl Hallman ranges are manufactured in Italy, not Tx. Hallman the company has head quarters in Texas and their warehouse is there, but they don't make the ranges.

I love my 48” ilve range! i have been using it for about 2 years and its great. There is a learning curve as its made in Italy and doesn’t come with great instuctions but once you figure it out you will love it plus it is a stunning addition to my kitchen!

I bought a beautiful 36 inch Ilve. It is my kitchen jewelry! But I HATE IT! The oven thermostat quit about the time of the warranty expired. Ilve thought my warranty was expired. I thought it wasn't because I was going by the delivery date. Of course Ilve won. Couldn't find a repairman willing to work on an Ilve. Ilve wouldn't sell me a thermostat to try to repair it myself. Took me 9 months to beg a repairman to PLEASE fix it. I called every repairman closer than a 2 hour drive. Ilve customer service is terrible.

It still doesn't work. It is 100 degrees off but with no consistency so you can't compensate for it. The burners are all too hot. I can't fry an egg or cook rice on the lowest setting without turning the burner off and on. Ilve can make anyone a bad cook!

    Hi everyone,

I bought my Ilve 48 inch propane range in 2020. The design is beautiful and fits to my decor. I had a new kitchen put in and really didn’t start using it until close to the end of 2020. Unfortunately right after the warranty expired the large oven element broke right before the holidays. It’s fixed now but I am very disappointed in the oven since we barely even used it. We had to wait 8 weeks as the parts are made to order. When the repair guys replaced the element, the stove had spaghetti wiring. They easily pulled out of the connections and were only attached on the styrofoam backing. Hopefully they have addressed this and cleaned up their wiring. A friend ordered Bertozzoni and told me they had spaghetti wiring but were able to purchase an extra package to neaten everything up.
I don’t know if others are starting to see problems now after 4 years being on the market. Love to hear from others.

I bought my 30" double oven in 2019 and works beautifully, my only complaint is that the double burner takes so incredibly long to ignite that sometimes I give up and use another one. The bigger oven does not cook evenly so I have to turn the food once or twice during cooking. Pretty much every oven is like that though. I did but the extended 10 year warranty but haven't used it. I absolutely love the design and I still think it's worth it...

Have the Nostalgie 48 ” range for one year Love the look , however, one burner has never worked Igniter pronlem, we use a grill lighter to light it Ilve’s customer service has been non existent and we are still waiting for our part for over a year! Dozens of emails and attempted phone calls! I would never recommend and definitely would not purchase again! Still considering if I shoukd take them to court!
