nicholsworth love Red October, yes for the red petioles but also for the white backs. Here is a pic from last year near the end of May. It was taken in the evening.

The red extends up into the leaf too. You need to click on the pic to get a clearer view of the polka dots.

Your Fire Island will nicholsworth. It is a great feature that breeders strive for and it has been around for a while. Red October is an older variety now.

Love that Restless Sea, I really like a Hosta with movement. Yes, Rainforest Sunrise was the 2013 Hosta of the Year. We must have been posting at the same time.

zKathy, it's at least 5 years old. I don't have a record on when I planted it.

Great pics all. I really like that Rootin Tootin, Sandy. I didn't know Rainbow's End went white. I like the yellow it retains in more shade. Here's a pic from the place that was sold out of it. This clump is easily 18" tall (my foot isn't that small - size 10).

June 3rd pics. I did take more pics in the summer but alas photography....not my Forte.

I have a few Rs, but not many good pics from last year. One, however, reminds me that Rainforest Sunrise is always late to the party. Here is a group of 3, on April 19. And you can see that Blue Mouse Ears (foreground) and Blue Hawaii (back left) are already well on their way with leafing out.

Aren't those Rainbow's End hostas beautiful. I would say it is a unique hosta. Can't think of any that look like it.

Photos are a bit dark. I was trying to do too many things this summer and then running out with the camera at the end of the day!
