You could certainly paint that wall an "accent" color if you wanted. Perhaps a blue/grey to compliment the current grey and it would look good with the maple furniture. You could start with that wall, and maybe carry it around to the French door wall and into the kitchen. Find a table runner or table cloth in the new color and some accessories to pull in some color. But first I would center the hutch on the wall, and put a chair on either side of the hutch. Good luck.

I'm just not sure how a blue/grey would go with the wood trim, that's why I was thinking green. I may have to play with some colour chips. I wish I could centre it on the wall, unfortunately there are cold and hot air vents on either side of it. To centre it would cover the large cold air vent.

It looks like a French Country style furniture. Paint walls a pretty pastel color, and take all the trim to white- even the ceiling fan blades!
