silver chain or Stonington Gray?

Need help picking a wall color for an east and south facing living room, dining room and kitchen combo.

Couch is slate gray (picture attached).

Had decided on Silver Chain, but now doubting myself and worrying it’s too dark?

I love your sofa, I have Stonington Grey in our house through and have lost a lot of light due to building beside us when I had more west facing. I have a chair about the color of your sofa and it looks great. I am all about adding light in some capacity either with solar tubes or additional lighting anyways, so I buy what I love and you can't go wrong. I have a lot of monochromatic like, whites, greys, camel colors anyways, but I am big on textural accessories which brings your furnishings to life. Like chunky throws, pictures frames etc.

JudyG: the sofa is very dark slate gray. No Brown undertones. It’s a beach house as well, so I’d prefer true gray or blue gray.

I am going to “no” to both. For south/east light, you need more blue in the gray and “dark” isn’t the issue; the undertone is.

B.M Gull Wing Gray is perfect for the orientation and will be a great backdrop for the sectional.

I see white piping…make sure your ceiling is nice and white and use a lot of white in your accents.

I like to "bump" my color up with accessories that are less expensive to change out seasonally so I am loving your sofa and color palate, but I live in a long narrow open concept so I prefer mono tone on big ticket items. Blast some color with beautiful art, throws, cushions, area rug perhaps.

JudyG: too dark. Could we compromise with Whitestone (2134-60)?

Whitestone is pretty, but green undertone.

    How about Sweet Innocence?

Way too blue JudyG. Sorry! Definitely looking for something 95% gray with possible blue undertones.

What about Harbor Gray? In some pictures on Houzz it looks blueish.

Well, after seeing all of your thoughts and ideas, we’ve decided to go with...

Pelican gray downstairs and thundercloud gray upstairs.

    Who makes those colors??

    All Benjamin Moore colors

FYI BM Silver Chain is the same color as BM Harbor Gray, as noted above in two of the screen captures.

I highly recommend purchasing a sample of the paint to try before you paint the entire room. The light in the room will have a huge impact on the perceived color.

I just ordered Silver Chain at 50% and did my bathroom with it, I liked it so much I am not going to do my kitchen with it as well. Of course now I’m having doubts! It’s getting painted tomorrow....! I hope I’ll like it as much as I do in my small bathroom. (It is the middle grey on my kitchen wall and it’s the grey to the left in the last photo) Silver Chain at 50% - the color to the right is Coventry Grey at 50% - it seemed to have green in it which I didn’t want). Please tell me Silver Chain at 50% in kitchen will be nice!! 🤞

Hi there! Im debating on silver chain as I read it’s similar to Valspars Filtered Shade. By doing it 50% what is the difference? I have a dark blue couch with Aqua yellow and turquoise as my accent colors and am torn. I have tried Metropolitan Grey too dark, Revere Pewter too beige and Gray Owl, it’s ok but my rug is white/grey so didn’t want it too close to color. If anyone can suggest a color pls help! Can’t wait to see all the After pics!

Silver chain at 50% I think would be nice! It turned out great in my bathroom and kitchen. I’m very happy, though there are a lot of choices out there that are beautiful too!

What is that color of your wall now, behind the blue couch....? It’s nice!

I’m looking for a grey for outdoor deck with NO undertones?

Consider “silver chain” because that’s what I was seeking for my walls, no undertones - it worked out well, but horizontal on the floor may read different!! All the best!

    Outside deck with constant sunlight

    How about Rock Gray?

Looking to paint vinyl siding a nice gray color but worried about undertones especially with the brick. Need help! Any suggestions?

We have 50% silver chain in our bathroom and kitchen and absolutely love it!! Not sure how it will look outside. Get a small sample ($8) and try it out! We love it.

What do you mean by 50%

Just tell paint store you want the color at 50%. So it’s a bit lighter, that’s what we did and love it. Good luck!
