Not trying to offend here, so don't take this the wrong way. Unless you live in an area where your summers don't get much above 70 spring seeding will be a complete waste of time and money. The weeds that you just nuked have been spreading seeds all last summer so you will have a whole new crop coming up this spring and they will choke out the new grass. For now you just need to deal with it and be ready towards the end of summer to start over.

Now is the time to begin getting the soil ready for the seed you will put down early fall. The soil test you had done will determine what you need to do. Post the test results here and someone should be able to give you some recommendations. Until then, spend as much time reading here and learning all you can.

Please post your location so we can help you determine the best type of grass and an approximate time frame for all the things you will need to do. Lots of great folks here from all over the place so you should find plenty of helpful advice.

Where are you located? Do you have warm season grass or cool season? SInce I don't know the answers, here is what I would do.

If you are in zone 8 or higher, go out and buy yourself some PREEMERGENT for weeds right away. This weekend. Lesco is a great brand. This is very important.

If you are zone 7 or cooler, March 1st, go buy your preemergent and put it down before St. Patty's Day.

You need fertile soil, so as soon as the weather breaks in spring, go get yourself some Milorganite at Home depo, read on the bag how much to apply, I use a spreader. That will also add iron to your soil which is good.

If you have cool season grass, wait til the end of summer before you seed. Cool season grass is Fescue, Kentucky Bluegrass. This grass stays green in the winter.

If you have warm season grass, Seed before the end of June. By the way, you can apply as much Milorganite as you want, just wait about 4 weeks between applications.
