Hi Arlene, it's always better to cook in stainless. Aluminum (including aluminum foil) is not safe to cook with or in. Aluminum leaches into the food (esp when cooking tomato sauce, etc). You can research this online. That is why people 'should' use deodorant which doesn't have aluminum (antiperspirant has aluminum). When you use anti-perspirant, you are applying it right into the armpits near the lymph glands. It's found in high concentrations in the brains of Alzheimer's patients, etc. Save it for nostalgia, but don't use it. We all need to be careful to reduce the toxic load to our bodies (think lead paint, asbestos, aluminum pans, etc). They were the rage back in the day before people realized the dangers. I'd go buy a nice stainless selection!

I have two Silver Seal pots with covers and use them nearly every day, I grew up with them, and I’m 74! they were my mothers (who got married in 1938)... I cannot Replace them. The wooden handle is perfect on the one... nice to know others still have them.
