Beautiful countertops! Maybe wait until your appliances get put in then look at it again?

Your counters have a grey undertone. By off white, do you mean creamy? If so that might clash with the new counters. Do you have a test swatch of the new color you can put next to the counter?

All white kitchens are boring. The wood tones you have are back in style, especially with the new counter. Go with a glass tile backsplash and you won’t need to spend the $8-9k to paint those cabinets...

Looks like the finish on the cabinets is in good shape. I wouldn't paint them either. I am seeing more wood tones now. Paint finishes don't last as long as wood finishes. All white cabinets are a dime a dozen. Ho-hum.

Wait, you may feel different about the kitchen once new back splash and appliances are in. I would update hardware tho.

We didn’t expect the cabinets to pop with the new counters. We were so set on a white kitchen...

Helen, if you are set on a white kitchen, paint the cabinets. Having a professional help pick the color is a great idea.

Your cabinets are beautiful! definitely push pause on painting those.

The wood will be a lot less maintenance over time and you're on the front end of the medium natural wood toned kitchens trend thats coming our way.

I have a white kitchen. It's fine, but I think I'd rather have your nice warm cabinets.

A few years ago we got a quote for painting our maple cabinets, then just never got around to it. Now I'm glad we didn't. I'm getting tired of all the painted wood that has been around for awhile, and I'm loving my natural warm wood tones.

I am glad I did not paint mine, and I think yours look great, especially with your floor. Have the decorator choose a new wall paint color and back splash, maybe new knobs if you want something different although yours look fine.

I see all your games and it looks like you have an active family. You may be unpleasantly surprised at the grubby marks that always seem to be on white cabinets. I'm not one who likes constantly wiping, and didn't care for white cabinets for that reason, when I had them before my current cupboards.

Your cabinets are so nice! Maybe just paint the island, if you want to break up the wood tones a bit.

I would not paint the cabinets, change out the hardware and paint the walls. If your new appliances are stainless steel you will be surprised at how they will change the look of your kitchen.

Maple takes a graphite wood tone stain really well. This takes way more skill than painting. So get samples and a full explanation of the process each of the 3 quotes you get. Then get more until you find a craftsman.

I agree with Jan. If you want white or cream go with that! You should love your kitchen and you will be the one living there. I also chose white cabinets and I love them! I’ve had painted cabinets in the past and loved them as well.

Take a scrap of your counter top ......(ask them for the sink cutout,) and go to a good paint store, and select your WHITE. Take a few mat boards and test in the store. I don't see ivory or cream with the tops.

I agree with "go for what you want" but be aware that what you want now may not be what you wanted before.

Probably not. If you had gutted the kitchen would you have ordered a wood stained cabinet or white?? Probably white, yes?

This is simply a case of the weirdness of a half measure executed thus far. That's all it is.

I have seen folks go into total panic over a new sofa for heavens sake.... a paint color.....a dang LAMP. You ARE NOT DONE YET. Relax. Go back to your inspiring photos. Drink some wine.

Try not to let what will soon be a hundred conflicting opinions here, throw you into a state. It's like asking every neighbor in a ten mile radius for gawds sake. Just step back from the ledge : )

I understand the hesitation bc your cabinets do not look bad w/your gorgeous countertops, but they are not stunning. Assuming you lean more toward wanting to enter that space and feel the beauty around you. I know your countertops deserve to be wowed. Just went through bathroom renovation & a million second thoughts & a lot of $, but every second I spend in my bathroom I feel special, happy & completed bc the space is as I envisioned. Like JM suggested, trust your original desire. I know every house for sale that I look at w/ white kitchens & baths sells almost immediately. Getting the advice of a designer is prudent. "May the odds be ever in your favor."
