Hi Kay,

I was able to grow Korean melons from seeds last year. I got about 9 fruits from 3 plants before I pulled them out because it got pests later on the season and it still had a few small melons and flowers. I direct sowed the seeds around May. If you are saving the seeds from melons, make sure it is really very ripe. Put the seeds in water for about 2 days. Throw away the floaters and save those that sink to the bottom. Hi Kay, I was surprised when the seeds germinated, and more surprised when I got the fruits. I saved the seeds from the chamoe I got from the Chinese store when I lived in Maryland. So the seeds were not fresh, maybe saved a few years ago. We don’t have an Oriental store near by where I live now, so I miss eating chamoe, Asian pears, and dragon fruit. I plan to get an Asian pear tree in the fall. I am not going to grow chamoe this year, instead I am going to try this Asian golden crispy melon from Baker Creek. I think it is similar to chamoe, that it got golden skin with white flesh. I will let you how it turns out. Hope you will get many chamoe!

Does golden crispy melon taste a lot different from chamoe? I hope you grow well golden crispy melon, I chamoe. Happy gardening!

So did anyone plant them this year? Was wondering if zone 5 has a long enough season for them?
