Hmm, I had to go look and see what a instant pot was.

I don't have one and don't want one---trying to keep the kitchen free of anything more than all the stuff in it already, but several people here have them and use them, so I thought I'd link the news.

Are you floating away up there? We're up over 5" for the week and it is still raining here now. I'm going to start building an ark if this rain doesn't let up.

Yea over 5" of rain here too and pouring down now. I planted onions before the rain ( who would of believed it was going to rain) and I see some of them laying on top of the mud. Nothing I can do about it till it dries up a bit.

Jack, That is hysterical. We have instant everything else, so why not that? Are y'all getting rain up there?

Robert, I have been holding on to my onions since Feb. 12th and need to get them in the ground, but I was watching our forecast and, at that time, they had us forecast to receive 3-5" over the next 7 days, so I decided to wait out the rain. Since my garden slopes, I could sort of picture all the onions floating away....and I think it really could have happened.

As of right now, we're at about 6.15" in the last 7 days, with perhaps another inch or two forecast to fall (I wish it wouldn't) before the rain ends tomorrow or tomorrow night. Then, more comes next week, but I hope to get the onions in the ground Sun or Mon when it isn't raining, as long as I can get into the garden on foot to plant. I refuse to paddle into the garden in a boat.

The rain comes and goes in little waves. I keep hoping the next storm on the radar will miss us, but then it doesn't. I hear thunder from the south now, so apparently another one is on the way.

I'm pretty sure the goldfinches, mourning doves, blue jays and cardinals are developing webbed feet. I feed them in between showers and they gobble up all the food. Then it rains and after that next rain storm passes, I put out more food if needed. We're going to have really odd-looking very fat birds with webbed feet. By contrast, the chickens are staying inside their coops today, by choice. I think they've had all the rain they can stand. There's tons of green plants popping up in the pastures already, so I can tell the rain already is making an impact.

I had a friend highly recommend an Instant Pot a couple years ago, but I held off until any quirks showed or at least until more reviews came in. I guess procrastinating does pay off.

its a freaking miracle people. it is like a pressure cooker and a slow cooker got married and you can have the best stew in your life in 30 minutes. it's the slow cooker for people who really can't make dinner before they leave for work.

I LOVE my instant pot!! The one in the article is not the pressure cooker instant pot though. It's actually more like a crockpot. It does not cook in such a way as the pressure cooker. I got nervous though when I saw the post. Thank goodness it wasn't the one I have. I have never cooked such moist chicken in my life!! :) It's so versatile.

Same here, Melissa, mine is nothing like that one, either. HOWEVER, after having purchased a small one, I realized I probably wasted my money. It isn't something I use very often. Not cuz there's anything at all wrong with it, but rather because of the way I cook. Some days, I know right away what's for dinner. Many days, at noon I happen to think, what's for dinner. Sometimes it comes to me. And sometimes at 3 pm I'm thinking what the heck is for dinner. Many days, I'll think I'm going to make such and such only to realize at noon or 3 pm, NO, I am definitely not in the mood for that. I might be planning all day the day before that we're going to have salisbury steak tomorrow, for example and at noon the next day go, "NO way. We need grilled cheese with tomato soup." Everything in my cooking world depends on my taste bud yearnings at the moment. I hate it! But that's the way it goes for me. LOL SO. That's why I don't use slow cookers or my new IP often. LOL again.

That isn't the kind of instant pot I have either. I haven't gotten into it I guess. I've been told it makes good Japanese rice. DH has a rice cooker, I just use a pot. I might try hard cooked eggs in it, but they are so easy to steam...in a pot. There has to be a good reason for me to stand on my head to get it out of the cabinet.

Amy, I have wanted to try hard cooked eggs as well but just haven't yet. I really want to try yogurt also. I really use mine a lot for soups, beans, quinoa (1 min manual, then 10 min natural release), sweet potatoes, chicken ( SO tender!), refried beans, and rice. That's about the extent of my trials so far. I did cook some delish chicken fajitas in it and DH who detests chicken loved them!!

I'm glad none of you have that one that is melting. That would be frustrating.

I used mine twice today; once for chicken and once to cook black beans for sweet potato burgers. I also cook my sweet potatoes in it when I am making quite a few.

We should start an instant pot recipe thread. :)
