Neem oil does OK. I only tried it for that starting last year and it did pretty good.

I ignore them unless they are really severe, then I remove affected leaves and/or squish the little larvae inside the leaves when I can.

Bossyvossy, So you think bacillus Thurgiensis will work on leaf miners too?

Its what Ive used successfully. they key is reapplying. Not a one time cure. Same as with other products, ie deer repellent. reappy reapply reappy is key

I heard from a master gardener, you can ignore them, they do not damage the trees.

Yes I've noticed the growth of many plants seem to be completely unarrested by them but my poor citrus are not one of those plants. The new leaves always grow and expand perfectly fine right up to the point when the leaf minors get into them. Only then, and only the leaves with the minors in them, (which in some years is quite a lot! ) do they begin to do all sorts of weird things, curling around themselves in ugly distorted shapes which of course effects the photosynthetic abilities of the leaves

Leaf miners are not “end of the world” problem but they make plants ugly. If you treat early once, maybe twice, problem is arrested for the season. I don’t want cannas looking like this sooner than they have to.

I also cut them to the ground in late September when they’re ratty and by Thanksgiving they’re gorgeous all over again.

Try Spinosad, it is consider organic.

Why have I never heard of Spinosad?! I see it mentions leaf miners as a target pest
