I had a contractor that did most of the rough-in, drywall and tile work and I did the rest. Nothing was level as you'd expect in house over 100 years old and the original roof was built from true 2x4s, so essentially rebuilt the entire frame within the existing structure. Leveraging 2x8s for the roof framing allowed a much higher r-value especially using the spray foam insulation. All in, including the furnishings, I've probably got close to $65K in upgrades.
