On my monitor the curtains have a pink tint. I don't know if that is accurate or not in the room. However the panels do not work for your room.

I would change the current panels to something that blends in with the wall color. If you don't want to go with the wall color, than go with a creamy white rather than the pink tint. I also would not use the curtain header you have now (rod pocket), it looks very casual country and your room is more sophisticated than that. Also, your rods need to be longer so the drapes can hang at the side of the windows, like below, rather than covering up the windows as they do now:

Have you tried a landscape? Or do you like some other type of art? Try something that has meaning to you. The size should be at least 75% of the width of the sofa back. Have you looked at GreatBigCanvas.com? When you hang the art behind your sofa, it should relate to the sofa (by proximity). To do that, hang it 5 inches from the top of the sofa to the bottom on the frame.

One of the other posters here has a great, easy to remember rule for hanging art: 5-5-75. Five feet from the floor to the center of the art, 5 inches above furniture, at least 75% the width of the furniture under the art. I am paraphrasing here, but she makes it easy to remember with that shortcut IMO.

BTW, I like the color of the new curtains. I agree with the others about using a wider rod so the panels are sitting off the window rather than blocking a portion of the window. Agree about hanging your art lower too. Your room is really coming together nicely.

I love the rug as well and hope you move the curtains off the window. You may need to double the panels. It is annoying because it doubles the price, but makes a HUGE difference.

ETA: I would go with the same drapes in the dining room and add big colorful art on the walls. The modern art you prefer. Let the focus be on the art rather than the drapes. JMO

You could always put that picture above something in the corner you were asking about. It looks like that plant is also in the way of the drapes, can it be shifted over?
