Given the pink color, it's probably something organic. Use hydrogen peroxide (~12%) and a tiny bit of ammonia. Bleach would probably work as well, but only use 10% so as not to etch the marble. You can finish it off with a marble polish powder.

I also recommend finding a stone fabrication facility where you can purchase Duponts 20 natural stone sealer. Its a huge life saver for marble. i believe it should cost 299.99

I also want to add that I have two young kids, and I let them eat on the counter bar (pancakes, bacon, snacks - no orange juice) and I just wipe off the greasy hand prints when they are done.

I used to have fairly cluttered countertops at my old house (and you can see a bit of the mess on the far right in this house) but an unexpected perk of having marble is that I take pleasure in clearing them and wiping them off when I’m finished in the kitchen. They feel so smooth!

In a month, I’ll have about 20 4yos at home for a birthday party and also their parents - I’ll update if my counters survived , haha.

I worry most about red wine stains. I entertain often (40 people at time) but we sometimes will miss that someone spilled or dropped something on the counter. And for me my friends are far more important than my counter. I want people to feel relaxed and enjoy themselves when they come over. I want the peace of not having to worry about an accident. I am not sure if Marble is for me. I need to find out what it costs to have it rehoned every year. I just want the counter to work for me, not me work for it.

Oh, one more thing. I actually made Mexican enchilada sauce and the oily tomato and pepper mix splashed on the countertops and all I did was wipe away and all was well. No etching or staining.

I use Trader Joe’s dish liquid. It has no citric acid.

I don’t know if my countertops are so resistant because they are Danby and dense or because they are Honed or both but they are perfect.

I don’t know about wine - we don’t usually drink. You probably would feel some anxiety about stains on counters if you didn’t protect them in some way and you are entertaining. That is for sure. I don’t think they would stain though , maybe just etch? But I’m not 100 percent sure. Good luck!

That would be amazing. I love the marbling in the pictures I saw so far. We’ve done a lot of research on marble and are ready to pull the trigger. We were torn between Carrara and Grandy. The Granby seems to have brighter whites! Thanks for sharing you pictures.

I found this plexiglass cover on Amazon - it’s awesome to protect my counter from chipping when loading and unloading the dishwasher. also to set things on top.

One last question...do you recall which marble you went with? Is that Danby Olympian or Imperial?

I can’t get over your counters by the way. What great pattern and coloring. You don’t see those subtle patterns that often.

@Dan Occhiato i believe they are Imperial. I saw so many and picked the ones that didn’t have too crazy of a pattern. So happy I found these. I had enough of them left over to put in my pantry as well and that piece of slab has a little more veins. Once I clean out the pantry I’ll take a picture.

We have honed Danby like the beautiful photos above and LOVE it - I'm so glad that I went with my gut and bought what I knew I'd love looking at and working on for many years. Stains are really not an issue. We've had a little etching, but that happens . . . anything acidic will dull the surface a little. We try to be careful - but at the end of the day, it's a kitchen that is meant to be used and enjoyed. If you can find Danby, go for it!
