The maple looks fine. That subway tile is a little wider than standard and those grout lines are really tiny. To me the biggest problem is that the floors are very warm and beige but the subway tile is stark white.

To help it flow better I'd upgrade your flooring (when you can), and get some new cabinet hardware to help modernize the maple cabinets. I suggest switching to stainless steel appliances too when these ones die.

I think your eye will get used to the contrast between the tile and the counter. Try simple curved brushed stainless hardware. Your local big box should have a selection so you can see what feels good to your hand.

Yes I like the counters with the tile and cabinets. Especially if you're keeping the white appliances. Can you take a wider view of the kitchen so we can see more?

Those cabinets need a deep cleaning and new hardware, new appliances, new flooring — all the color tones are off. The subway tile and counters should have never been brought into this color scheme. If you reface and change the cabinet color your still competing with the floor. And, then your putting all of that on 20 year old cabinets.

I never have been a fan of white subway (reminds me of grungy college dormitory bathrooms, and, well, grungy subways), so that's just me, but if that could be replaced, along with the hardware, you could do fine. Something warmer for a backsplash.

The counter and the cabs are fine. I've only recently gotten used to SS appliances, there's something cold about them to me.

Ouch, agree on needing a deep clean... floors and cabs. Those are atrocious.

Agree that the major outlier here is the floor but need a further out pic. Are these the floors that extends throughout your home or are they just in the kitchen?

I have similar cabinets, but different countertop. I think the white looks pretty. I used cream subway tile, but I don't think that would look good with your countertop. I also have white appliances and like them just fine:) (pics in my "my pics" idea book.)

For a floor refresh, look into grout paint. A lighter gray grout might refresh the floor:

Should I paint the cabinets white or get them cleaned and just jist get the new flooring to tie everything together? I'm so bummed I just spent 2200.00 for new counters and backsplash amd it turned out to be a bad color combo

Have you grouted the tile yet? If you use a very light gray grout, it will go with the counter and pull it together. Can you take a picture that shows more of the kitchen. It is hard to make suggestions based on what you have shown:)

As to paint or not - that depends on your personal preference, the rest of your home and the shape of the finish on your cabinets. If you like the wood but a few cabinets are worn, call a refinisher about working on just the damaged doors. My mother did that several years ago and the refinisher did a great job - I cannot tell refinished from the other cabinets. In some areas refinishing is comparable to painting and in others it is much more expensive. If many of the cabinets are worn, you might be better off painting. White is usually a good safe choice - and there are many whites so you might want some suggestions. I don't have painted cabinets in my kitchen so I don't have a suggestion. If you show more pics of your house, there might be a soft color that would look pretty. I've seen a green / gray work well in warm tone homes:

Your counters look nice! Bring the flooring from the adjacent room into the kitchen. It looks almost like a perfect match. Change out the cabinet hardware, also. Do those two things and you will forget that the back splash once irked you.

The first thing that caught my eye was the crooked installation of the dish washer. There are adjusters if you take off the bottom access panel. However, before doing this, you may find that there are hidden fasteners on the top of the dishwasher that are connected to the underside of the countertop. and these would need to be adjusted as well.

Now that I see a bigger picture I can say that backsplash looks just fine!

There is no "should" I paint, but what do you want and what is in your budget. I would probably leave the wood. You can always paint later. I agree to bring the wood floor into the kitchen - that will work with the wood or with painted cabinets. It will seem like a lot of wood at first, but after a few weeks you will love it.

On one hand, maple is a good wood to paint because it is smooth, unlike oak which has grain. But, wood moves with changes in temp and humidity and can cause hairline cracks in the paint at the joints. Some are bothered by this and others are not. This is why factory painted cabinets are made out of MDF or a combo of MDF and wood - the MDF is more stable to changes in temp. So a painted over finished wood cabinet will not have as durable a finish as a factory painted cabinet. Again, some want white so much that they don't mind the touch ups, and others do. If you have small children running around, you might want to wait till they are a little older to paint.

I kept (and love) my white appliances because they brighten up a wood kitchen. Stainless works too, but in my wood kitchen, I kept walls, countertop, backsplash and appliances light to keep the room light:
