I better put this in the fig forum, it is more appropriate, need more traffic there. Besides I get more stuff from my tree,s and I can always buy citrus, not figs, but I like mandarins better to eat, just bought a bag of Gold Nuhget for $4.00. I am not really impress with it, including my wifee.

The exact same work I have to do for my Negronne figs, they grew fast last year. The roots are all over the place in their containers.

I expect it to be better tasting by a wide margin. I compare it with a couple others that I bought. My wife think it has more tang, with I also notice.

I am adding two container fig trees to my tree collection, so it is a nice visual :)

Yes they taste awesome, especially if you harvest the very ripe ones at the hottest time in the afternoon, I like eating them being warmed by the sun :)

Mik, be careful before you add , because there are so many to chose from, 800 kinds, i am not lying, its crazy. Check-out" Figs for fun" forum to learn a little about figs.

A bunch of crazies over there like the citrus group but more. I you can find a BLACK MADEiRA, get that one.This one is hard to grow.

Its tooo early for my gold nuggets. Mid to late April is the timing in my yard. I wonder if the grower rushed them to market.

Correct about fully ripe figs... like candy!

Just had a few Gold Nuggets from the supermarket. They don't compare to Sumos. They were just 'OK'. I imagine they'd be better picked ripe from the tree and not stored forever.

And I imagine most critters find figs delicious?

Are some types better for containers?

Depending what zone, if you are in zone 8 or 9 i would stick them in the ground. My garden is just marginal for in the ground growing. There is only a handful for my area , the rest are going in containers, only keep 9 in containers.

I have so many mission fig volunteers in my yard, I have a hard time keeping them out of the yard! Now I'm wondering if I should let one grow... :)
