Dining Room Decor - Help Needed!

My husband and I moved into a new house a few months back and cannot decide how to finish our dining room. We love our dining room table and feel that it fits the space well. We bought the end chairs after moving to add a somewhat formal element to the space. We are not overly formal people and regularly use our “formal” dining space since we have a large family.

The dining room space is 14’ x 13’.

The dining room table is 100” with one of the two table leafs inserted, which is how we currently have it set up. There are two benches (on either side) and a chair on either end.

We bought a bar cart recently from West Elm, which we really like. We intend to purchase a buffet in the future, but thought this was a good interim solution. The bar cart will be moved to another space in the future.

My questions are as follows:

- Window treatments - should we add curtains? I was considering buffalo check window curtains in navy / white or gray / white. Would curtains only be added to the outer windows?
- Need assistance in finding a buffet style that would work well in the space. I cannot decide between something that is taller (more of a cabinet) or counter height buffet for serving.
- Rug or no rug? We would need something that is kid friendly and easy to clean.
- Wall art? Currently, we have a large wall clock on one of the walls and I have considered making this wall a collage wall. However, I’m stumped on how best to do that. I don’t want it to feel too crowded or unbalanced.

Below are pictures of the dining room and a copy of the floor plan for the main level to show how the dining room ties into the overall space.
