i have sold a couple really small paintings online but it’s so expensive to ship the large ones so I didn’t even offer them :/

I dream of having a small retail space to sell furniture, art and my knitted stuffs...find a partner with similar artistic interests to sell with me...one day....

Flo, I do like the handle :) I think it’s so cute. It’s def not decorative but that’s the point being that the pulls are so detailed and impossible to match. It’s not too shallow, I think it will work well.

shipping is horrible! i've sold quite a few of my pieces on etsy and chairish, but the majority have been through craigslist. i've also gotten a lot of custom order request from there as well. or people see the blog and email. the shipping is ridiculous. they wanted 350 to ship 600 miles and 400 to ship another piece almost 3000 miles. I'm like, seriously? they have a base minimum. A lot of people don't want to pay for that, obviously, so a lot of times I had to shave some money off my piece just to get it sold. that blue one above, went locally, if i remember correctly. I made a nice profit from what i paid for it, but if you tack on all the hours of work, it really isn't that much! unless you work for 10 bucks an hour!

So true, Beth, you will never get rich on these talents, but it is deeply satisfying to salvage a good piece of original workmanship into a whole new life! Shipping is ridiculous! For everything! But your work is so stunning. I was wondering, after your comment that your son put stuff on the top of that one piece, "is he still living?"!! lol

haha...omg flo... he would throw his board up there to wax it! sand and all. the second time I did it I thought, well, let me cover it. so I threw a thick towel on top.. forgetting that the paint doesn't fully cure for weeks. yep..pulled back the towel and it had 'stuck' to the paint. lovely. 3rd time's a charm!

Oh heavens, that is so frustrating. I just don't have that kind of patience!

Shipping is crazy... I will just have to learn how to do these things and do something similar for myself someday! :)

I wanted to list a big painting of mine on Etsy so I took it to mail places to see how much it would cost to ship it “properly”, no less than 260 bucks! I said forget it....

I’m thinking I can post the final reveal pics tonight. The spray paint is already dry enuf to put the handle on :)

We had to move it to a different room, that has no windows at all, so the lighting is awful. It’s not quite as dark as the pics show, but best I could do with iphone.

Idk why but I adore the little handle. I ended up putting the keyhole cover back on after seeing how small the handle was.

As an afterthought I had a little fun with the inside of the doors. Prob should have stained in there but it was just a lil extra so....

Nevermind all my junk in there.

Tried to get a better close up of drawer pulls.

Anyway I had fun and learned a lot on this one :)

Meljane, I’m not sure how long it took, I just did a little bit kinda daily. If I had to guess maybe like 25 hours total?

Rred, trying to do the math for the crosses was hilarious. Impossible! For me anyway. they didn’t end up perfect, they are actually not equally spaced, but it’s not noticeable to the eye. I did mess up the placement of the very last cross I did at the top left corner ugh!

Toats, some quilters make a deliberate mistake when piecing, saying “Only God is perfect” I adore the piece!

FissFiss, when my girls were not satisfied that their projects were perfect, I would declare them Amish, like the quilters.

At least I didn’t mess up the griffins!
