laundry drainage problems.

How can I stop the laundry soap suds from coming up the basement floor drain. The washer drains into the stationary tub, the stationary tub drains into a floor drain, and the suds come back up to the floor drain. No water, just suds, but of course, the floor gets wet as a result of the soap suds laying on the floor. We have had the floor drain snaked to make sure there was nothing clogging the drain. I have changed laundry detergents a number of times and never use more detergent than recommended. I use regular laundry detergent, as I do not have a HE washer. HELP!

Change to HE detergent. It will be fine in your machine. Powder less sudsy than liquid IMO

I'll give it a try. Thanks! But, I don't think that is the problem because it never did this before. The suds just recently started coming up from the drain.

Did you recently change the way the water drains from the tub into the floor drain? Years ago, I experienced something similar when I thought I had "upgraded" our pre-World War II laundry tub. Turns out that the drain could not handle the increased volume of water-the water needed to drain from the tub slowly for the floor drain to handle it. Just a thought ....

1. bbnny: Didn't change a thing! It's just the strangest thing. So, not only do I have to do the laundry, I have to constantly wipe up the floor to keep it dry. Thanks for the thought.....
3. georgect: And, to the comment above, we have done a good cleaning. Even had the floor drain snaked to make sure nothing was clogging it.
