Can’t quite get the paint color right?!!!

Hi! So I thought I was set on Newburg Green for a bedroom color, loooooved the images I’ve found online, such a cool look. Then I sampled it and it just looks like dark grey to me? I happened to grab another sample while I was in the store and in is Beau Green. The Beau Green seems to look much closer to the pics of Newburg Green but I’m worried it’s just tooo bright. Is there a way to mix these colours or is there a good in between I didn’t notice? The pretty pics are my inspiration, and the swatches are my real life.

I think your Newburg Green sample photo in your space, looks a lot like it could turn out just like the example photo, depending on the light in your room in person— but to me on my screen, it does not look in the least like a grey.

And remember when sampling— just seeing a little bit of something is not gonna be the same as a whole wall or whole room with multiple coats, or even seeing a larger area of sample.

The Beau Green that you have shown, to me looks to be far too heavy on the green, as opposed to the deeper/bluer teal in your inspiration pics, and I don’t think you’d like it once it was covering the whole room.

(Not a pro.)

editing to add: I saved a gorgeous inspiration pic of a deep teal/blue recently on Houzz. Just looked back and it was ‘Forest Blues’ by Dulux. Might be up your alley!

Look at Benjamin Moore In a New York Minute or New York State of Mind. Also Farrow & Ball Skiffkey Blue is very pretty.

I agree that your sample looks very much like the inspiration photo. The other color is WAY off.

My bedroom is newberg green. I love it! but I do think it feels more muted and darker than your inspiration pics. Much of it is the lighting--I don't have a ton of artificial lighting in my room so it's definitely much darker than your photos with the professional lighting and photography.

I took these photos--you can see how much brighter is looks next to the lamp.

Also I know some ppl may look down on Behr paint? But just today went to a friend’s home with a lovely deep teal entrance area and thinking of this thread I asked her about the color! it was Behr ‘Cathedral’. Looked a LOT like your inspiration pics. Really pretty and a little brighter than the Newburg Green. I looked it up online just now and it looks WAY lighter and greener on my screen—but in her (gorgeous yet slightly dark) home it definitely was reading as more of a deep blue teal.

And wow caligirl- your pics are a great reminder that lighting is really everything when choosing paint. In focused lamplight vs dark room vs daylight. . . same paint takes on 3 totally different personalities.
