Thanks, that is neat. But I cannot discriminate what can take afternoon sun vs. morning sun. For example, big leaf hydrangea came up as a result! I certainly wouldn't consider putting a hydrangea out front to get the brunt of the sun! Hoping someone has something in mind, maybe something they have tried for a similar area.

A photo would certainly help. Or if not that, we need some dimensions. Hard to make suggestions if we don't know if the area is 2' wide by 5 ' long or 5' wide by 20' long.

Three Agave ovatifolias would look cool there. Or a planting of low Ever Red loropetalum. Possibly Dwarf Indian Hawthorn. Also, a bed of 'Fire Power' nandinas would look nice. I’d remove all the small stuff.

BTW, odd numbers usually look better than even, unless they are all eventually forming a solid mass.

A grouping of 4 would be less inherently rigid than a triangle.

What is the shrub at the very right of the photo? Since this is only part of the bed, what you have here should probably relate in some way to what is farther down the bed. Can you add another photo that shows what else is in this bed? You mentioned the agapanthus, but what are the small shrubs(?) at the back and how large will those be?

Yeah, I don't know any of them really. I wasn't the one who put them there, and I am not in any way attached to them. But I also don't see them going anywhere as they are all very matured. They are pretty much NO maintenance other than the big ones need occasional trimming. The small bushes in the middle are only being kept as placeholders, to add some height. They could easily go. They haven't grown at all in the 2 years I have lived here. This bed gets watered by sprinkler 2 times a week and hand water as needed in hot summer.
