Need help with floor tile that would go with Travertine shower!

I am remodeling my small

guest bathroom, but don't want to rip out the travertine in the shower. The rest of my house is more modern coastal with whites and grays, how can I brighten the bathroom up to make it look more modern? I have tried a ton of samples and nothing looks good with it.

I am re-painting and getting a new vanity as well. Thank you in advance!

I don't know if it will be too close and look "off" or if it will be a creamy nice contrast.

This 1x3 herringbone and the 1" hex have the most variation in color, which work best for trying to not "quite" match.

The company is very responsive with sample orders. I have not yet ordered from them for a tile order.

You will have to use floor tile that matches the travertine. There is no alternative to that. Gray, black, white, slate, none of that will look good. Maybe wood? But I think that would be even darker. I would freshen everything else up with a white vanity with a white countertop and nice white towels with some beige embroidery perhaps.

Good luck with your project. I think pale beige and white look fresh and lovely together like summer whites in feeling.

@Rita, thank you, I think you are right, I have tried white, gray, black and patterns and nothing looked good. I think adding white in there will definitely brighten it up. Thank you!

What’s on the floor now? I think a tile like the walls would be good. Or a larger format 18x18. You could go with the darker accent tile color and it wouldn’t have to be an “exact” match. Then if you wanted to keep the room light, paint the walls a lighter color.

To lighten your bathroom, I would use an off white counter, it's more practical than all white and for the tiles you could use something like this.

Marazzi Uniche is THE go to for those looking to coordinate with old travertine. But often, those old travertine installs are in poor condition, with the fill coming out, are etched from acidic cleaning products, leak from an improper build, and are impossible to actually clean. So realistically assess keeping them at all.
