Standard garden hose does not connect

I just bought this and would like to keep it but a standard garden hose does not connect. It looks like the fitting is some kind of quick connect fitting. Please let me know how to connect a hose to it or I will have to return it.

Can you tell me if you found the connector to hook it up to the hose?

However, we are sure that a specialized person would be able to give you more information and that the said converter can be found at a local hardware store.
