Trimlite Entry Doors

I'm looking at entry doors at a warehouse, and some doors aren't labeled with brands because of a discounting agreement with the companies. I did some sleuthing (one door has finishing instructions labeled Trimlite), so I think Trimlite is the brand. The doors are around $600 plus tax. Does anyone know if Trimlite entry doors are decent quality or what they're normally priced? These are all fiberglass.

Thanks!

Another "pro" that don't care for nothing other than selling.

@Thedoorsdepot, obviously the poster doesn't wanna spend $3,000 on a door since they are looking at discounted doors.

@figureskater, pretty much anything is better than mastercraft from menards. But then again since people are uneducated, I've seen multi-million dollar homes in downtown chicago with $200 mastercraft entry doors.

Things to consider, every material has its pluses and minuses.

Wood doors are the most beautiful. They also provide a natural insulation as wood is a good insulator. But they are expensive and require high maintenance especially if its facing the sun. They can also warp over time, making you fix gaps in the door jam.

Steel doors are usually the cheapest but are prone to denting. If your one of those people that kick the door open while carrying groceries, expect dents. But steel provides no insulation and strictly relays on whats on the inside. Steel requires minimal maintenance as it just needs to be painted every so often.

Fiberglass is more expensive than steel. Though it won't dent, it can crack if hit hard enough. Especially in colder climates. Fiberglass is usually made to look like wood so no need to paint, in turn requires no maintenance.

Sometimes you might wanna actually sacrifice the quality of a door (a little) for the style of window. If there is a style of window you absolutely have to have. Then just get the door. I was in the situation but I didn't want a cheap door, so I just made one. I just bought an exterior slab, bought the glass separate and made the door. Making the window frame was fun.

Now this was just my rear door from my deck to the kitchen. You might wanna have something a little more fancy for your front entry.

I'm just an avid "do it yourselfer". If your contractor has any skill, he could do the same. Its pretty easy, but kinda labor intensive. Mainly the window frame. The window only came with a plastic one.

If you are looking for the new front door with fiberglass insert, visit the Doors Depot online store. There you can find Fiberglass Entry Doors made of steel. They are reliable, durable and despite the material from which they are made lightweight. There are a lot of options for the modern, traditional, and minimalist interior. The prices can seem as expensive, but don't forget that this is the front doors of popular and reliable brands that exist more than one year. Their steel construction covered with moisture resistant MDF and decorated with glass and grill. Also, we offer the warranty on all our products

Thank you! Very helpful response. My contractor does like to do woodwork, but he's already tinkering with some other things for me, like making bathroom vanities out of some older pieces of furniture, so I don't want to ask him to make a door. I think we'd prefer the look and feel of a wood door, but our house faces east, so that might be too much sun. Fiberglass might be the best bet. We'll stay away from steel--good to know about the easy denting. Thank you. :)

Glad to help. Higher quality steel doors like what "doors depot" posted are usually made with much thicker steel, so I don't think denting would be an issue. The issue is, if your gonna drop 3 grand on a door, you might as well get a real wood one. A steel slab should never cost 3 thousand dollars. I don't care what fancy diagram the sales man whips out. Those are a rip off! You might actually be able to find a real nice wood door on craigslist. You can maybe find a real expensive wood door for cheap, that just needs to be resanded and refinished. Good luck with your project.

Another good idea! I love Craigslist and have looked on there for several things for our project, but I never thought to look on there for a door. I'll check. Thanks again!
