1. Bruschetta with a dollop of fresh ricotta, drizzle w honey, top w a tiny grating of lemon rind and black pepper

2. What I will call "Annie's app". Take a dried fruit -- apricot, plum. Fill with a dollop of soft cheese ... mascarpone, blue, brie. Top with a nut/nuts. Pecans, pistachios, walnuts

3.Asparagus wrapped in procuitto

4. Caesar salad in parmesan tuile cups

5. Citrus salad in endive leaves

6 Spanikopita

7, Chicken samosa

8, curried devilled eggs

9, stuffed mushrooms

Yes, spring... new life. Green shoots. Decorate with pots of herbs. Have herb shears out. We had dinner out last week and they offered to snip parsley over my salad; growing in a little clay pot.

A drink of some kind with Baileys Irish Cream as the feature breast milk cocktail for guests.

I am a big fan of Chinese paper lanterns for decorations. Relatively easy and inexpensive and so much better for the environment than latex balloons.

What day and time of day is the soiree to meet Master Emmett going to be???/

I am having a blast and kind of surprised by that. I told my doctor yesterday that I thought I would be totally ready to go back to work at six months postpartum – tradition in Canada is a year, but my husband is taking the last six months – but now I’m really regretting not taking the full year! He’s a pretty easygoing, fun, baby. She said she couldn’t wait to escape her babies! Haha.

Mtn I love that list of easy, springy apps! Yes, I am still avoiding dairy but I don’t mind serving it to my guests. Of your list I particularly love devilled eggs, asparagus, and samosas sound really fun!

What color scheme would you go with for a spring theme party? Just browsing party supplies over here. I want to do something a bit more sophisticated/grown up than my usual super-rainbow. I will probably be able to get some tulip bunches by then.

We love this very easy recipe.

serve in siijan cups

shrimp recipe

6 green onions

1/3 cup mayonnaise

1 tbsp of lemon juice (I will put a little less next time)

1/2 tsp of paprika

1/4 tsp of cayenne

10 ounces cooked shrimp chilled and coarsely chopped (I used fresh and cooked them).

Mix all ingredients. Add shrimps, salt and pepper. (Can be prepared 6 hrs ahead ).

Ooh easy and dairy free!

One of the easiest, prettiest party foods is a really nice fruit and cheese platter, especially because most people can find something they like on it!

In the afternoon, I’d do sangria rather than mimosas, I think. Love the lanterns idea!

For the afternoon, I love little tea sandwiches or for the more hearty eaters, maybe sliders. Love all of Mtn's suggestions but I am especially a fan of the wrapped asparagus. I've wrapped them in phyllo and London broil, skirt steak and a spiced ham. So many variations and all are easy to eat and so good.

I agree with shades of green for a color scheme-- but I also love the orange/aqua Chinese lantern décor. I think it would be very appropriate for Emmett's sip and see!

What fun - I think you have some great appetizer suggestions and I love the Chinese lanterns for a festive look. What about a prosecco bar - I think that would work great for an afternoon party and provides lots of mixing options.

I had a "make your own sangria" bar at one of my summer parties. White and red wine, lemon lime soda pop (the traditional) and various other fruit sodas, some with sugar and some without, just flavored, and Cointreau and then cut up fruits. One could also add peach brandy.

It was a big hit, although I must say just with the ladies. Guys drank beer or soda or iced tea.

Even an iced tea bar would be nice although it might be a touch cold yet for that — looking outside at our second snowstorm in two days!!

If the weather is cold, do mulled wine. I put mine in a heated carafe I have but have also used a crockpot. Always a hit. Can also do mulled cider with booze to put in it for those who want to. Mulled wine or cider can be kicked up a notch with brandy or those flavored vodkas.

oh how fun! You will need a guard to make sure nobody tries to leave with dear Emmett. Would you consider a spiral ham with various spreads, small rolls, or biscuits? I like the idea of a mimosa bar. You can serve various salads (love the ones Sue posted): tossed green, pasta, potato, grains. Do you have a party store nearby? Go there and buy lanterns and paper goods. You can hang white lights outside for a festive effect. Add some vases with fresh flowers and you're good to go!

Just for a chuckle . . . or in my case when it happened, a big cringe, I have to pass along a drink I encountered at a similar event several years ago. The hostess served Mojitos in plastic baby bottles, complete with nipples, and our names on them. Needless to say, it did NOT go over well with most of us guests! Our problem then was to come up with a gentle way to transfer the drinks to a regular glass without offending her. That outcome was debatable (LOL). I still shake my head remembering it!

Oh my gosh Lynn, that is hilariously awful! I have some champagne flutes ready.

Doesn’t seem much like spring out there…

Just wanted to follow up that the party went extremely well. I invited some neighbours and they eagerly accepted so they could snoop around the house (I would do the same). A bunch of people came and the party spilled throughout the first floor instead of being concentrated in the kitchen as usual. The baby was in a great mood and didn’t mind being passed around. I was completely exhausted by the end and glad I kept it to two hours.

Food served was not thematic in the end, just easy for husband to prep:

The punch bar was very popular and husband put out a selection of scotch and bourbon as well. I was very happy to do self serve drinks as we were very busy wrangling the baby and otherwise hosting.

I ended up with mostly blue, mint, aqua, and yellow decorations but the rainbow crept in there especially because I couldn’t find a tablecloth I liked in the blue-green colour scheme.

How lovely! And kudos to the Robo's for serving homemade goodies with baby in tow! I am sure everyone enjoyed it,and how nice for them and Emmett.

They’re a thing, sort of an anti baby shower where it’s low key and you get to see the baby (and no gifts). They’re Southern but spreading!
